Concerns that a war between Iran and Israel may not be that far off are growing. A controversial report in the German weekly Stern quotes German intelligence sources as believing that Iran has “mastered the enrichment technology necessary to make a bomb and had enough centrifuges to make weaponized uranium.” The report, picked up by Reuters, quoted one expert at the agency as saying of the Iranian military:
“If they wanted to, they could detonate an atomic bomb in half a year’s time.”
Officially, BND, the German intelligence agency, is denying that the agency has formally made this conclusion, conceding only that some of its analysts may consider six months a worst-case scenario.
