D-Day for Israel's Future?

By Hal Lindsey

Decisions that may determine the eventual demise or survival of Israel as a state will be set in motion in the tense meetings between President Barak Obama and Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu.

Despite the fact that the Palestinians have not kept one agreement that was part of the Oslo Accords and later the Road Map to Peace plan, the Obama Administration is set to apply maximum pressure upon Netanyahu to agree to a Palestinian state that includes all land within the Pre June-1967 borders.

The Palestinians were given a perfect opportunity to prove that they could live side by side in peace with Israel when they were given possession of Gaza and the freedom to govern it. Hundreds of millions of dollars were contributed to them to build an economic infra-structure so that their people would have work.

But just look at the historic record of how they used the opportunity:
  • Their leaders used the money for themselves and to smuggle weapons and terrorist fighters into Gaza.
  • They sent suicide bombers in with their workers who had to work in Israel because they were incapable of building their own industries.
  • They bought and smuggled in rockets and missiles with which they continually bombarded the entire civilian Israeli population that are within range.
  • They overwhelmingly elected Hamas, a terrorist regime, to be their government.
  • All Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza refuse to recognize Israel has a right to exist and that it is a Jewish State.
Gaza gives proof of the kind of government the Palestinians in the West Bank will have. There is absolutely no evidence that giving them more land and sovereignty would change their behavior. On the contrary, that kind of demonstration of appeasement and weakness will only encourage the officially elected Hamas government to seek to finish the destruction of Israel.

Obama's Administration insists upon negotiating with Mahmoud Abbas and the Fatah Party. Yet they are not the recognized elected government of the Palestinians. So any decisions made with Fatah are not binding upon Hamas.

Further, Hamas has now declared that they would only agree to a cease-fire of about ten years, not to a binding, permanent peace agreement. They have also said that they will not recognize Israel as a State, especially not a Jewish State. They demand all of Jerusalem.

No rational government would give statehood to such people as the Palestinians have proven to be. They cannot give a state to a people who in every way demonstrate that they do not accept Israel's right to exist in secure borders. Especially not a state in the strategic heartland of their country that renders their nation indefensible.

It is time for all who believe the Bible to pray for the Israeli people. Their survival is at stake. God swore that He would bring them back to the land He promised their forefathers, that He would cause their land to flourish under their hand, that He would miraculously make them a nation. And God predicted that He would do this despite the fact that they do not deserve His favor - but because He will keep His promises to their forefathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. As God swore through the Prophet Ezekiel,
"Therefore say to the house of Israel, ‘Thus says the Lord GOD: "I do not do this for your sake, O house of Israel, but for My holy name's sake, which you have profaned among the nations wherever you went. And I will sanctify My great name, which has been profaned among the nations, which you have profaned in their midst; and the nations shall know that I am the LORD," says the Lord GOD, "when I am hallowed in you before their eyes. For I will take you from among the nations, gather you out of all countries, and bring you into your own land. Then I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you shall be clean; I will cleanse you from all your filthiness and from all your idols. I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will keep My judgments and do them. Then you shall dwell in the land that I gave to your fathers; you shall be My people, and I will be your God.'" (Ezek.36:22-28 NKJ)
The LORD of Israel has already fulfilled most of this prophecy before our eyes. He will certainly fulfill the rest of it just as literally. And woe to the people that try to block what God is going to do. Do you hear me, Oh leaders of America.
