Palestinian terrorists operating out of the Gaza Strip fired a short range missile and seven mortar shells at southern Israel between Thursday night and Friday afternoon.
The rocket attack occurred during the predawn hours, when a Grad-type short-range missile slammed into a community in the western Negev region. The missile damaged a local cattle shed and injured three cows.On Friday afternoon, a short, but sustained mortar barrage began, with four shells landing near the coastal city of Ashkelon and another three landing near communities in the western Negev.
There were no injuries or damage in the mortar attacks, but residents were forced to spend the afternoon in bomb shelters.
Southern Israel has sustained 180 Palestinian rocket attacks since the start of this year. Nevertheless, Israel is heavily criticized for imposing a very limited embargo against the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip, where all of the attacks have originated.
