'Worn Arguments and Old Attitudes'

"There are unjust laws to overturn and unfair practices to stop. And though we've made progress, there are still fellow citizens – perhaps neighbors or even family members and loved ones – who still hold fast to worn arguments and old attitudes, who fail to see your families like their families and who would deny you the rights that most Americans take for granted. And I know this is painful, and I know it can be heartbreaking." ~ Barack Hussein Obama, June 29, 2009
"Worn arguments and old attitudes."

What do you suppose Barack Obama was talking about last Monday when he made that statement?

Was he talking about the archaic notion that you can reduce poverty by stealing from the haves and giving to the have-nots?

Was he talking about the outdated idea that centralized control of the economy can work?

Was he talking about the worn-out old argument that the world is on the verge of catastrophe due to man-made carbon dioxide and water vapor in the atmosphere – and that we should remake our energy and economic policy to reduce it?

Was he talking about the tried-and-failed policies of nationalized health care?

No, he wasn't talking about any of those worn arguments and old attitudes. He was talking about the biblical mandates against men having sex with men and women having sex with women and some other combinations few of us can even comprehend – or care to try.

He made his statesman-like comments at a White House reception honoring "Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Pride Month" – where he likened the struggle for special rights based on sexual proclivities and inclinations with the struggle of blacks for civil rights.

If ever there were a genuine provocation for black people to take to the streets in protest, that insult is it. But I digress.

Why do most Americans oppose granting special privileges to people based on perverted sexual activities?

I suspect it is because of what the Bible, the cornerstone of Western Civilization, has to say about those behaviors.
  • Leviticus 18:22 (KJV): "Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination."

  • Romans 1:22-27: (KJV) "Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things. Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen. For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet."
Are these the worn arguments and old attitudes Barack Obama would like to scrap?

He has already managed to scrap the Constitution as a consideration in his policymaking plans. I have no doubts he would like us all to forget about the immutable standards put forth by the God of the universe in his Holy Word.

Barack Hussein Obama and his acolytes don't like being accountable to a higher authority. Obama would like to be the highest standard. He's one of those people the Bible describes as "being wise in his own eyes."

As Paul explained in Romans, homosexuality is not a "lifestyle." It's a judgment. When a society changes the truth of God into a lie and worships the creature more than the Creator, that society is given over to vile affections. That's where we are in the United States of America today.

And that's nothing to be proud about.
