The Missing Birth Certificate Takes Center Stage at the White House

The man who occupies the Oval Office (OOO) is once again under fire for not making public his birth certificate. In response to the a question at the White House Monday, press secretary Robert Gibbs once again emphatically defended that OOO is the Constitutionally legal president of the United States. He said,
"If I had some DNA, it wouldn't assuage those that don't believe he was born here. But I have news for them and for all of us: The President was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, the 50th sate of the greatest country on the face of the earth. He's a citizen."
There was laughter in the room and indignation on the part of Gibbs.

Gibbs responded to the question: Is there anything you can say that will make the birthers go away? According to the White House transcript, there was laughter among the reporters. Then Gibb's response:
"...let's understand this - and I hate to indulge in such an august setting as the White House - and I mean this in seriousness - the White House briefing room discussing the made-up, fictional nonsense of whether or not the President was born in this country. A year and a half ago I asked that the birth certificate be put on the internet because lord knows, you got a birth certificate and you put it on the internet, what else could be the story?"
For me, a journalist, a former award winning investigative reporter, and an American citizen, the story is that OOO has spent millions of dollars in lawyer's fees to seal from the public not only his college records, but his birth certificate. The story Mr. Gibbs is that you, the president and the White House have refused to release the original certificate of live birth from Hawaii. There has been no, and I mean this sincerely to all my Democratic friends, there has been no public legal verification that this man who the people elected president actually meets the Constitutional requirement that he be a natural born citizen to be eligible to hold the office he now occupies.

It is a simple matter. Unseal the records, prove your point beyond a reasonable doubt. If you don't unseal the records, those of us who hold the Constitution dear, will never believe you are qualified, but we will always believe you are hiding something. If there was not a question of where the birth took place because of all the relatives in Kenya who claim he was born there, then this would not be an issue. But having a press secretary bully the public without verifiable documentation in hand only fans the flames of doubt and suspicion. Where is the openness promised by this Administration? Jesus said in Matthew 24:4,
"Take heed that no man deceive you."
