The Prophetic Posturing of Israel

By Michael G. Mickey

The nation of Israel is moving toward its prophetic destination before our very eyes and not just in the ways we most commonly think of.

We all know that Barack Obama, having pledged "to heal America's rift with Islam" according to The Telegraph, is going to resume his role as apologist-in-chief two days from now when he gives a speech in Cairo, Egypt in which he is, according to White House spokesman Robert Gibbs, going to "review particular issues of concern, such as violent extremism and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict" and "discuss new areas for partnership" between us and the Muslim world. The end result of this, not surprisingly, will be bad news for our ally, Israel, in keeping with the theme of bible prophecy wherein we see that little by little, slowly but surely, Israel is going to be hung out to dry by the entire world, including the United States, that complete fulfillment of God's prophetic plan may come to pass.

Scenarios like the one just described have become commonplace of late, particularly since Barack Obama became president, his loyalties to Israel (or lack thereof) becoming more and more apparent to those who wouldn't listen to those of us who predicted, prior to his election, time would reveal him to be a Muslim sympathizer at the very least, if not an outright enemy of Israel. But, again, this commentary is about the less-noticed areas of prophetic posturing taking place indicating that Israel is looking more and more like 'end times Israel' than ever before so let's focus on a couple of examples.

Aliyah continuing

What is Aliyah? Aliyah is the Hebrew word used to describe the physical return of the Jewish people, the children of Israel, to their ancient Promised Land, Zion, from abroad. It's taking place today, in fulfillment of Ezekiel 36:24:

For I will take you from among the heathen, and gather you out of all countries, and will bring you into your own land.
In order for the final prophecies of the Bible to be fulfilled in the future, the children of Israel have to be back in the Holy Land. Ever since 1948 when Israel became a nation, aliyah has been taking place and it's in the news once again.

Israel National News is reporting that aliyah from western countries rose by 20% in the first four months of 2009 and this at a time when a boisterous leader in Iran who has vowed to wipe Israel from the face of the earth is drawing closer and closer to obtaining nuclear weaponry that would, hypothetically, make his threats possible. In my book that is simply amazing to comprehend as the Iranian threat is just one of many threats posed to the tiny Jewish nation that is the apple of God's eye. In spite of all of this, the Jewish people continue to return to their ancient homeland, another reminder that our Lord is alive, on His throne and in control!

Secular Israel isn't so secular after all?

Those of us who study bible prophecy understand that a third Holy Temple is going to be in full operation at the midpoint of the Tribulation Period to come that the abomination of desolation may occur, but a concern on the part of many for a long time and understandably so has been that the Jewish people haven't shown a lot of interest in returning to their ancient religious practices that the rebuilding of the Temple may occur. Well, grab onto something if you're subject to falling out of your chair because, believe it or not, a survey conducted by Israel National News shockingly reveals that "Israelis have a stronger connection to Jewish holy books than many previously thought."

Excerpt from the INN article:
The survey, carried out by the Panels Institute, shows that almost every Israeli has a complete set of the Bible texts, a Jewish prayer book, or Five Books of Moses in their home. Only five percent of those polled said they had none of these items.

An overwhelming 63 percent of respondents said they had studied some sort of Jewish text in the last six months, with 22 percent of those polled saying they study on a daily basis.

The Jewish people are returning to their biblical homeland as prophesied. Not only that, the recent trials, struggles and threats posed to their survival as a nation and people may be leading them back to their roots and, ultimately, to the rebuilding of the Holy Temple!

Keep looking up, Christians! Our redemption draweth nigh!
