There is a big brouhaha on Capital Hill over the use of "waterboarding and enhanced interrogation techniques" on Islamic terrorists. The Administration of the man who now occupies the Oval Office (OOO) wants to prosecute former Bush Administration officials and those who performed such things against terrorists in the act of protecting America's national security. First OOO said he wanted to prosecute these people, then his Chief of Staff said that there would be no prosecutions of those acting in good faith of the law, then OOO overruled him and said there would be prosecutions, and now apparently, there will not be prosecutions.
Enter House Speaker Nancy Pelosi who says that she was never told that such interrogation techniques were being used. Pelosi said she was briefed by Bush Administration officials about the legality of using such techniques, but she told reporters,
"In that or any other briefing...we were not, and I repeat, were not told that waterboarding or any of these other enhanced interrogation techniques were used. What they did tell us is that they had some legislative counsel ... opinions that they could be used."House Minority Leader John Boehner, however, says that Pelosi and a host of other Congressional Democrats and Republicans knew all along what was happening.
Boehner went further, saying that the very same people that are publicly criticizing the waterboarding not only knew about it, they didn't object to it, and they supported it, Pelosi included. Boehner told reporters,
"I saw a partial list of the number of members of the House and Senate, Democrats and Republicans, who were briefed on these interrogation methods and not a word was raised at the time, not one word."With all the problems that are facing America, this is a debate that should not even be on the radar screen. Islam was lopping off the heads of innocent American civilians. Patriots trying to protect our nation did what they had to do, and they had every legal right to do it.
The people who are debating this issue are the same ones who accept a report that vilifies pro-life, Bible believing Christian Constitutionalists as rightwing extremists without even mentioning the radical Islamic threat to national security building across this country. One has to start asking if the enemy within - the Federal Government - is greater than the enemy external, or if it is aiding and abetting it. The change America needs must start with the Christians who allowed this immoral and unjust government in office. 2 Chronicles 7:14 says,
"If my people which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land."
