The so-called economic stimulus bill passed the House of Representatives without one single Republican vote. It passed the Senate with the votes of only three Republicans. Admittedly, most lawmakers said they didn't read the 1,071 page, eight inch high piece of legislation that was written by lobbyists and staffers at the direction of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. There wasn't even a "Cliff's Notes" version of the bill as staffers combed through it to find out what the major points were before their bosses voted on it. The promise made by the House Speaker to post the bill online with at least 48 hours for lawmakers and citizens to read the bill fell by the wayside in the rush to pass it.
All that to say that elected officials did not bother to read the landmark legislation that puts the nail in the coffin of free enterprise and firmly establishes America on the slippery slope toward socialism. This historic legislation that passed in a vacuum of bipartisanship was done so without those voting for it even caring enough to read what was in it. Criminal-probably not. Irresponsible-irrefutably so. This legislation steals money from hard working Americans and redistributes it in government sanctioned programs and organizations designed to create a socialistic state, the very system rejected outright by framers of our Constitution, the Founding Fathers of the United States.
This legislation enhances the opportunities to kill the pre-born, as if killing 4,000 a day through abortion was not enough. This legislation also increases the possibility of death and destruction of American lives by promoting normalization of homosexuality, the main cause of deaths through AIDS. This legislation seeks to destroy the freedoms of everyday Americans by taking away their independence and mandating dependence on the government for basic services. This legislation destroys the very basis of free enterprise by making the government the regulator of businesses, even down to the salaries their executives can make. This is the change Americans voted in the past November election.
Speaking of His sheep, Jesus said in John 10:10, "The thief comes not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly." The thief is come to America. He came in the form of immoral and irresponsible elected officials who changed the face of what makes America great by casting a vote on a bill they didn't even read. It steals your money. It kills your citizens. It destroys your liberty. In the verses leading up to verse 10 Jesus says that He is the gate to protect the sheep from the thieves. America's protection in Washington, DC seems directly proportional to the amount of true Christianity present when the votes are called.
