There Are More Jews Living in Israel Today than Any Other Nation of the World

Jimmy DeYoungBy Jimmy DeYoung

The latest population records from the Israeli Central Bureau of Statistics reveal that the total population of the state of Israel is more than 7.5 million with 75% of that population, over 5.6 million, being Jewish, the largest population of Jews in any nation of our world.

During 2009, the Israeli population grew by 1.8% with 20% of Israel's population being Arabs and over 300,000 from other ethnic groups with four times as many babies being born as there have been deaths recorded in Israel.

One significant number in the increase of Israeli population was the total number of new immigrants in 2009, a rise of 17% increase in immigration made by Jews from around the world into the Jewish state of Israel.

Jimmy's Prophetic Prospective on the News

The ever increasing population of the state of Israel is evidence that Bible prophecy is today being fulfilled.

With the release of the new population numbers from the Israeli Central Bureau of Statistics which reports that Israel's present population has reached 7.5 million people, we see that Jewish people continue to come back to the land of their forefathers. The 17% increase in the number of Jew immigrating to Israel indicates that Jews outside of Israel realize their responsibility to return to the land of their forefathers. This report is evidence that Bible prophecy is in the process of being fulfilled.

The ancient Jewish prophet Ezekiel wrote 2,500 years ago that the Lord would reach into the four corners of the earth and bring Jews back home to Israel. Ezekiel 34:11-30 records the Lord's statement of "I will" and He uses that phrase 18 times: "I will find my people wherever they have been scattered", "I will bring them into the land of their forefathers, the land of Israel", "I will feed them on the mountains of Israel like a good shepherd feeds his flock", and the "I wills" continue 18 times, I will find my people and bring them back into their land.

The latest population numbers released by Israel indicates that Ezekiel's prophecies are indeed being fulfilled today.

2012: Apocalyptic Factors

David ReaganBy David Reagan

Is the Mayan Long Calendar the only source of the 2012 "end of the world" prediction, or are there other factors that support this dire forecast?

There are other factors besides the Mayan Long Calendar that are fueling the 2012 hype. One is the fact that the same date, December 21, 2012, allegedly marks the first time in thousands of years that the galactic alignment of the sun and earth with the center of the Milky Way will occur.7 Some have theorized that this cosmic event will cause the earth's poles to reverse, resulting in major catastrophes.8

Also causing concern is the prediction by the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) that 2012 will be a peak year for the sun's cycle, resulting in a very dramatic increase in solar flares.9 Estimates are that the next sunspot cycle will be 30% to 50% stronger than the previous one in 2000. If correct, the years ahead could produce a burst of solar activity second only to the historic Solar Max of 1958.

To no one's surprise, the Nostradamus fans have also jumped on the 2012 bandwagon. In 1994, Italian journalist Enza Massa was at the Italian National Library in Rome when she stumbled upon an unusual find. It was a manuscript dating to 1629, titled: Nostradamus Vatinicia Code. Michel de Notredame, the author's name, was on the inside in indelible ink. This manuscript, never published by Nostradamus, was handed down to the seer's son and later donated by him to Pope Urban VIII.10

The book is full of bizarre images and mystical quatrains. Its contents have not yet been completely revealed to the public, but there are rumors all over the Internet that it contains predictions of the end of the world in 2012.

And then there is the Bible Code. Michael Drosnin, the author of the book that popularized the code, states that the words, "earth annihilated" appear in correspondence with the year 2012.11

Finally, there is the Web Bot Project that was started in 1997. It was originally created to predict stock market trends. But it has expanded in recent years into a program that claims to be able to predict future events by tracking keywords entered on the Internet.12 When the date, December 21, 2012, is entered into Web Bot, the prediction emerges that there will be "a cataclysmic pole shift in 2012."13

In the next installment of this 2012 series, we'll look to see if there is any truth to the claim that the world will end in 2012.

Thirty Good Things About 2009

Chuck MisslerBy Chuck Missler

"Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning." – James 1:17

A variety of consequential things occurred in 2009. The swine flu spread around the globe. Businesses failed and people lost their jobs and the governments of the world tried to spend their way out of recession. The world dealt with slaughter, nuclear proliferation and dead celebrities. However, 2009 offered us more than tragedy. There were excellent things too, things worthy of a second glance as we celebrate the successful completion of one more year on the planet.

In January:

  1. One thousand people gathered at a Harlem church to pray for Israel. The Senior Pastor of the Bethel Gospel Assembly, who organized the event, also invited Israel's Consul-General to New York to attend the prayer.
  2. A US Airways Airbus A320 bound for Charlotte, NC crashed in the frigid Hudson River shortly after takeoff, and except for a pair of broken legs, all 155 passengers and crew escaped with minor injuries. The incident became known as the "miracle on the Hudson."
In February:
  1. America celebrated the 200th anniversary of Abraham Lincoln's birth (which took place on February 12, 1809), remembering the tall, lanky man who loved true liberty, who dreamed in his day "of a place and time where America will once again be seen as the last, best hope on earth."
  2. A Gallup poll released just in time for Charles Darwin's 200th birthday (the same day as Lincoln's) found that a mere 39 percent of Americans said they "believe in the theory of evolution."
  3. Benjamin Netanyahu was asked to be Israel's next Prime Minister after an extremely close race with Tzipi Livni. Netanyahu is a conservative well known for his commitment to a unified Jerusalem and his support for Jewish settlers.
  4. In Operation Cross Country, the FBI and police rescued 48 teen prostitutes, some as young as 13, from illegal sex trade rings in a sweep in which 571 suspects were arrested.
In March:
  1. The annual Christian Youth Film Festival was held at the Fox Theater in Bakersfield, California. Joe Brown, the youth pastor at Heritage Bible Church, started the festival 15 years ago to give kids a creative outlet for their energy, one in which they create films on any topic (in line with a Christian world view.)
  2. Stephen Baldwin, the youngest of the famous four Baldwin brothers, slammed the garbage coming out of Hollywood. He told CNSNews.com that Hollywood's constant violence, vulgarity, and anti-family fare lead to all sorts of social decay. He added that pro-family films sell well and encouraged more conservatives to make their way into the industry.
  3. Physicist Bernard d'Espagnat won the Templeton Prize for his concept of a "veiled reality" - one that lies behind the world that we can touch and see. His work in quantum mechanics involves experiments that demonstrate that the essence of reality goes beyond merely the three dimensions that we can directly experience.
In April:
  1. Americans rallied at "Tea Parties" on capitol steps across the country on April 15, inspired by Rick Santelli's famous speech made from the floor of Chicago's CME Group. (For Americans, a "tea party" is a cheerful idea. It brings to mind the great glory of a bunch of grown men dressing up like Indians to toss the East India Company's tea into Boston Harbor. It's the fleshing out of a great "Huzzah!" to standing up against mad taxation and unfair political decisions. It bellows out a love for freedom and for self-government.)
  2. Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas phoned new Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to offer him wishes for a good Passover. Netanyahu's office called the conversation warm and friendly, and both men spoke of their interest in cooperation and peace.
  3. Dozens of Diplomats walked out of a UN anti-racism conference after Iranian President Ahmadinejad described Israel as "totally racist". While this isn't good news for Ahmadinejad or the UN, it shows that Israel has at least a few friends in the world.
  4. Israel celebrated its 61st Independence Day on the 5th of Iyyar (April 29 this year) marking another year of Israel's successful survival in a hostile world.
In May:
  1. The 58th annual National Day of Prayer was held on May 7th. Cities and churches throughout the nation held prayer gatherings to recognize God's goodness and to thank Him for the many blessings He has poured on America. Millions gathered to seek His guidance and protection for our national and local leaders, our communities, and our families.
  2. Gallup released a poll showing that a majority of Americans now consider themselves "pro-life." This is the first time the majority has swung to the "pro-life" position since Gallup began tracking the data 15 years ago.
  3. Gideons International celebrated a century of ministry. On May 31, 1899, two Christian businessmen decided to band Christian commercial travelers together for the Lord's service. By making Bibles readily available in major venues like hotels and hospitals, these businessmen offer hundreds of millions of people access to a Bible at least some point in their lives.
In June:
  1. The people of Iran took to the streets to protest the results of the questionable Iranian elections despite the vicious backlash of the authorities. These protests demonstrate that the Iranian people are willing to stand up against tyranny, even at serious personal risk.
  2. Stephen C Meyer's new book Signature in the Cell became available, showing that new discoveries about DNA provide modern scientific support for belief in an Intelligent Designer.
  3. What is believed to have been an ancient Christian hideout was found in Israel's Jordan Valley. The 2,000-year-old underground refuge may have served as a Roman army base or monastery or hiding place for Christians.
In July:
  1. Scientists from the University of Manchester found cell-like structures in the skin of a hadrosaur, giving these scientists a view of the cell structure of dinosaur skin. Dr Phil Manning, Senior Lecturer in Paleontology at SEAES called the discovery "absolutely gobsmacking."
In August:
  1. Texas high schools offer Bible literacy classes this new school year, in accordance with a 2007 Texas law finally going into effect. As expected, plenty of people criticized Texas for weakening the Church-State boundary, but others praised the state for working to brick-in an essential part of high school education in teaching, "students knowledge of biblical content, characters, poetry, and narratives that are prerequisites to understanding contemporary society and culture."
In September:
  1. About two million students met at their schools' flag poles for the 20th See You At The Pole prayer gathering and asked God to bring moral and spiritual awakening to their campuses and countries.
  2. Judge M. Case Rodgers ruled that Pace High School Principal Frank Lay and Athletic Director Robert Freeman did not violate a 2008 agreement with the ACLU when Lay asked Freeman to pray over a luncheon for Pace High's Field House dedication. Rodgers said the prayer was spontaneous, and there was seemingly no intent to violate the order. The men could have faced up to six months in jail and $5,000 each in fines if the judge had ruled differently.
In October:
  1. Abby Johnson, the director of the Bryan/College Station, Texas Planned Parenthood, switched sides in the abortion debate in the middle of the 40 Days For Life prayer campaign. After having worked at the abortion center for eight years, Johnson's heart was moved for the unborn, and she resigned her job on October 6. The 40 Days For Life campaign started in Bryan/College Station five years ago and has spread across the entire country.
  2. The FBI rescued more than 50 teens forced into prostitution and arrested 631 people, including 60 pimps, on state and local charges. The sting took place in 36 cities over 72 hours as part of the Innocence Lost National Initiative.
  3. Brianna Cardwell wore a T-shirt with the word "abortion" crossed out and handed out literature during non-class time as a part of the Pro-Life Day of Silent Solidarity sponsored by Stand True Ministries. She was told by her assistant principal at Randelman High School in North Carolina to stop her activity and cover up her shirt. The school has since backed down after a pro-life legal group stood up for Cardwell's rights.
In November:
  1. Louisiana's Choose Life License Plate Fund donated $64,421.20 equally to 20 agencies that actively help pregnant women and women with babies in need. The license plate fund has been a huge help to pregnancy centers that offer women alternatives to abortion.
In December:
  1. A simple Jewish home from the time of Jesus was found in Nazareth, giving archeologists more insight into what it may have been like to live there when Jesus was a boy. "They say if the people do not speak, the stones will speak," smiled Father Jack Karam of the nearby Basilica of the Annunciation.
  2. Five-year-old Natalie Flores was rescued on Christmas Day, seven hours after having been abducted from where she was playing at her apartment complex in Phoenix. That evening, Officer Mike Burns saw a truck that matched the description of the one driven by Natalie's kidnapper, and the local law enforcement were able to chase the man down and rescue the child unharmed.
  3. "Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and forever." - Hebrews 13:8
Happy New Year to everybody, in the name of Jesus the Messiah, the great King of the Universe.

Tough Times

Jim FletcherBy Jim Fletcher

It’s pretty easy to say that Israel is in the most difficult spot of its 60-year existence.

Iran is the obvious threat, with its nukes on the horizon. The Islamic state is the biggest sponsor of terror in the world, and has placed Hezbollah on Israel’s northern doorstep. Further funding of Hamas and Islamic Jihad and who knows how many other groups make the whole region a powder keg.

Then there are the political developments. As Europe plunges deeper into a pagan world view — I insist that the Continent’s real problem was its abandonment of the Bible more than a hundred years ago — so she drifts farther from Israel. It isn’t mentioned often, but this is why Europe’s capitols harbor such vile hatred for the Jewish state. They first bought into Replacement Theology, then abandoned theology altogether.

Then there are the conventional threats to Israel; Pakistan and India are always a step away from nuclear showdown, but just watch a common cause develop, and they’ll turn their attention in that direction. It is not out of the realm of possibility that they will look westward. And we know from Revelation that a gigantic army from the east does just that in the last days.

Of course, there are also the political attempts to liquidate the Jewish state. First, by establishing another Arab state (“Palestine”) on half of Israel. Secondly, if that attempt fails, a bi-national state has been proffered. This would mean an end to a Jewish majority.

Israeli premier Benjamin Netanyahu also faces a real threat to Israel’s deterrence, if he agrees to Hamas’s demands to free prisoners in exchange for Gilad Shalit. Bending to that pressure would further erode Israel’s reputation for bold action.

But through all this, it would be a mistake to assume that Israel has not been down this road before, and ended each episode in triumph. This is where the Mystery of History factors in.

In 1948, David Ben Gurion was facing some pretty serious threats. His “air force” consisted of a few rattle-trap planes. His regular army, many of them survivors of the Holocaust — doctors, lawyers, accountants — were learning to fire weapons, literally on the run. The battles for Latrun, Jerusalem, and other key spots indicated quite clearly that Someone was fighting for the Jews. They should have been wiped out.

Another somewhat overlooked threat came in 1964, when the PLO was formed with key help from the Egyptians. In fact, the Muslim Brotherhood, spiritual forefather of Al Qaida, provided all sorts of help for the “Palestine Liberation Organization,” and cross-border terrorist actions kept Israel constantly vigilant. Yasser Arafat’s elevation to chairman of the PLO ensured that a psychopath would head the organization for decades.

Still, Israel is here.

Who can forget another existential threat, the Yom Kippur War? Only six years after the war victory of biblical proportions — The Six-Day War — Israel was pushed to the brink by a surprise attack by Syria and Egypt. Israel’s Golda Meir had been warned, but decided against a preemptive strike. The subsequent invasion by the two Muslim neighbors almost cost Israel everything.

Defense Minister Moshe Dayan’s famous remark, that the “Third Commonwealth” was in danger (hearkening back to the First and Second Temple periods), exposed the seriousness of the situation. Several days of desperate fighting culminated in Ariel Sharon’s famous crossing of the Suez Canal, which forced a cease-fire.

That engagement led to the series of horribly misguided peace efforts that have led us to where we are today: Israel still in peril, and the nations blind to the evil designs of the Arab states.

Again, though, Israel is still here. Against all odds.

I fully expect, because our Creator has revealed His power to us time after time, that Israel will continue to survive. The decisions facing Benjamin Netanyahu will become mere footnotes of history, stretching back to the first Jewish leader, Abraham.

God walked with the man from Ur. He still walks with his descendants.

Christmas Day Terrorist Plot Exposes Need for Change in U.S. Policy

Bill WilsonBy Bill Wilson

The UK Sun is reporting that there are at least five groups of five British-born terrorists that have been training in Yemen similar to the recent terrorist who tried to blow up a Christmas day Northwest airlines flight using explosives in his underwear. This report indicates that the al Qaeda cells in Britain are alive and well and are patiently training for multiple attacks. The article also claimed that these 25 terrorists were educated at universities, studying engineering and computer science. But the most interesting revelation is that the Sun reports these terrorists were "radicalized" in British mosques.

This is a clear indication that mosques, under the cover of religious freedom in nations that are traditionally comprised of Christians, are being used as centers teaching radical Islamic views and encouraging terrorism.

It is a basic tenet of the Christian faith that man has free will to choose Christ as his personal savior. Derived from that principle is freedom of religion. Christians are called to evangelize, but Christianity does not force its belief system upon others. They are free to choose. Galatians 5:1 says,

"Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ has made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage."
Freedom to choose, freedom from sin, freedom to worship are hallmarks of Christianity.

This is not lost on the false religion of Islam. In fact, Islam is using the religious freedom clause in free societies to colonize them and to spread within them its network of tyranny and terror. The Muslim Brotherhood put forth a strategy document in May 1991 for settlement of North America. The document states that
"In order for Islam and its Movement to become "a part of the homeland" in which it lives...the Movement must plan and struggle to obtain "the keys" and the tools of this process in carrying out this grand mission as a "Civilization Jihadist" responsibility which lies on the shoulders of Muslims and - on top of them - the Muslim Brotherhood in this country."
The plan later identifies building Islamic Centers in every city as a means to put words into action. Islamic centers, according to the plan, are the center of all activity in a community from sports to battalion to education to political resolution. The mosque would serve as the holy motivator. This strategy is playing out in both the UK and America. For example, Investors Business Daily reported December 17 the results of an investigative story entitled "The Pentagon: Muslim Spies Setting Muslim Policy." The story documents extremist Muslims in high level Pentagon positions who are undermining military policy. The US must identify Islam as a political system rather than a religion otherwise there will be dire consequences.

Is the Middle East About to Go Apocalyptic?

Bill SalusBy Bill Salus

While world leaders met in Copenhagen for the United Nations 2009 Climate Change Conference, Damascus, Syria hosted a war tribunal with high level delegations from Iran and the Hezbollah. Concurrently, about five-hundred prophetically minded Christian’s fellowshipped at the annual 2009 Pre-Trib Rapture conference in Dallas, hosted by Dr. Tim Lahaye and Dr. Thomas Ice.

Among the eschatologists in attendance were, Dr. David Reagan, Dr. Mark Hitchcock, Dr. Arnold Fruchtenbaum, Jimmy DeYoung, Jimmy DeYoung Jr., Dr. Chuck Missler, Bill Koenig, Pastor Chuck Smith, Dr. Ed Hindson, Dr. Randall Price, Mike Gendron, Dr. Thomas Horn, Al Gist, Don McGee, Terry James, Todd Strandberg, Gary Fisher, Phillip Goodman, Wilfred Hahn, Jerry Robinson, Nathan Jones, Don Perkins, Daymond Duck, Gordon Peterson, Don Mercer, Ray Gano, Mike Hile, yours truly and many more.

The revived Roman Empire, trend toward Globalism, coming Mideast War, absence of America in Bible prophecy, and soon return of Jesus Christ weighed heavy on our hearts and minds at the conference. Although not all Christians worldwide agree as to when or whether Jesus Christ comes to take millions of believers out of this world, many of them are troubled by the rapidly developing dangerous events in the Middle East.

On December 2, 2009 Iranian president Ahmadinejad declared “The Zionist regime (Israel) and its (western) backers cannot do a damn thing to stop Iran's nuclear work"
. Just a few days later according to Debkafile, Iran successfully simulated the detonation of a nuclear warhead in laboratory conditions. This is an alarming development because detonation is one of the most difficult challenges in the development of a nuclear weapon.

In addition to the above, Debkafile issued an article on December 10, 2009 entitled “If attacked, Iran wants Syria to hit back at Israel. Damascus hedges.” The article suggested that the largest Iranian delegation ever witnessed in Syrian history recently arrived in Damascus to form a strategic partnership between Iran and Syria against Israel. According to the article, Iran expects an Israeli attack within one month and wants Syria to commit to joint military action against Israel. It appears they plan to pressure Syria into a YES WE WILL ENLIST answer! (Iran and Syria confirmed a military pact on 12/11/09.)

Iran's defense minister Ahmad Vahidi headed the Iranian delegation in Damascus and he stated, "The countdown for war is coming close to its end." "We must get our strategic partnership in shape ahead of time." He went on to pinpoint “chemical, microbiological and banned nuclear weapons" as strategic retaliatory Israeli targets. Syrian and Iranian military officials purportedly proposed that Hezbollah and the Palestinian terrorist organizations start heating up Israel's borders in the coming days to draw the attention from the world's focus on the Iranian and Syrian nuclear programs. (Hamas vows to unite with Iran if Israel attacks.)

Additionally, Hassan Nasrallah the Secretary General of Hezbollah, brought a delegation from Lebanon to participate in this important Damascus meeting. Hassan Nasrallah had previously advocated this type of antagonistic behavior toward Israel on September 18, 2009, when he declared Hezbollah can presently wipe out one-half of Israel’s army and that Israel should be wiped off of the map.

It appears as though things are about to go ballistic in the Middle East. Should a war break out between Israel and the parties listed above, it could segue into a sequence of events foretold in the Bible. Three Mideast centered prophecies are strongly bleeping on the prophetic radar presently. They are Isaiah 17:1, Psalm 83, and Ezekiel 38 & 39. These three major prophecies have a myriad of subset prophecies, like Ezekiel 25:14, 37:10, Obadiah 1:18, Jeremiah 49:1-27 and many more that seem interconnected. These three prophecies were alluded to frequently among the attendees at the Pre-Trib conference.

While attending on December 8, 2009 I visited with Bill Koenig, a respected eschatologist and White House correspondent. He said that Syria supposedly has the most advanced scuds in the world. Additionally, we discussed the possibility that Saddam Hussein may have smuggled many of his chemical warheads into Syria before the 2003 U.S. led invasion of Iraq. I commented to Bill Koenig that; “Should any chemicals penetrate into Israeli soil, I suspect Israel might attack Damascus and ultimately bring about the fulfillment of Isaiah 17:1”. (Isaiah 17:1 alludes to the final destruction of Damascus)

Also we discussed the upcoming massive civilian defense drill potentially scheduled for the middle of January 2010 in Israel. Several people at the conference had heard about this drill, which is being performed in preparation for a potential multi-front war with Hezbollah, Syria, Hamas, and perhaps Iran. This exercise is intended to prepare Israelis for an attack of a chemical and biological nature. Also Koenig concurred that gas masks are going to be re-distributed on a wide scale in Israel in January 2010, seemingly for such a scenario.

Regarding chemical warfare, the Kuwaiti Daily reported in the summer of 2008 that chemical components enabling the production of mustard gas made their way through Iran and Syria into Hezbollah's hands. There is legitimate concern that deadly chemicals may already be mounted within many of Hezbollah’s rocket warheads. Koenig believes that there are presently 50,000 rockets in Hezbollah's arsenal. In the 34 day conflict between Hezbollah and Israel during the summer of 2006, Hezbollah launched approximately 4000 rockets into many parts of Northern Israel. This proved to be an embarrassing wakeup call to Israeli Defense Forces and their leadership.

Recently, in a televised speech on Al Quds day this past September, Hezbollah Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah discouraged all Arab allegiance with Israel and encouraged a multi-front war instead. He said "the next Mideast war will change the maps", inferring that in the aftermath, new maps would be drawn without the nation of Israel upon them. Undoubtedly, Hezbollah defiance is due to their success in 2006 and their abundant arsenal amassed presently in 2009.

In my estimation this coming war will be unlike any other Mideast war throughout the entirety of history. I had dinner with Jimmy DeYoung, the widely respected end time’s expert, on December 7, 2009 and he, like most everyone else I spoke with at the conference about the subject, believes that Israel will pre-empt a strike against Iran's nuclear sites in the near future. "They have to", he said.

The possible, albeit speculative, scenario I am suggesting to prepare for is as follows:

  1. Israeli Pre-empted strike against Iran's nuclear sites.
  2. Iran and/or proxies (Hezbollah, Syria, Hamas) retaliate.
  3. Israel uses Scalar Technology against Damascus
  4. Damascus ceases to be a city (Isaiah 17:1 fulfilled)
  5. Arab League calls an emergency meeting intended to draw a line in the sand between Israel and the Arabs
  6. Jordan and Egypt are pressured to break fragile peace treaties with Israel and confederate with other Arabs. (Jordan and Egypt are enlisted members of Psalm 83)
  7. Saudi Arabia, also enlisted in Psalm 83, joins in for survival and economic, religious, and geo-political purposes
  8. 8. Psalm 83 commences...
On a side note; Arab Nationalism is at an all time high especially in light of the Iranian nuclear threat. Additionally the Palestinian Refugee Plight is climaxing presently and, if the scenario I'm suggesting occurs, it could come full front and center in the midst of this major conflict.
I believe these refugees are represented as the "tents of Edom" in Psalm 83:6.
  9. Israel recognizes Arab military intentions and launches further preemptive strikes on its Arab neighbors and strikes religious sites in Saudi Arabia and overtakes the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Dome of the Rock. (Jimmy DeYoung informed me that the priestly garb is presently being prepared for about 28,000 Levites. DeYoung declared, They are saying in Israel today; "When the dome comes down, the priestly garments come out"! )
  10. The Psalm 83 war ends, separation wall comes down, and construction of third Jewish temple begins.
  11. The I.D.F. becomes an exceedingly great army in fulfillment of Ezekiel 37:10.
It may not happen exactly in this way; however, the above scenario is not that far fetched and I encourage people to prepare for the above or some varying scenario possibilities.

The prophecies that are about to be fulfilled leading up to Ezekiel 38 are world changing and then the world will probably witness the Gog of Magog invasion. The sign posts are all up and pointing toward the nearby coming of the seven-year tribulation period ending with the campaign of Armageddon, shortly after the above type scenario occurs.

Therefore, Christians worldwide should look up for our redemption draws extremely near.

2012: Cataclysmic Calendar

David ReaganBy David Reagan

What is the source of the doomsday date of 2012 that so many are talking about?

The 2012 hysteria has produced a doom boom that has been fueled by a series of television programs and the recent Hollywood blockbuster film.

It all relates to a calendar developed by the ancient Mayan civilization that was centered in the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico. Their society flourished from about 250 to 900 AD, when it experienced a sudden, unexplained collapse.

The Mayas developed an advanced society that featured large cities built around stepped pyramids that also served as temples. They excelled in mathematics and astronomy. Combining the two, they produced a series of 20 different types of calendars. It would not be an overstatement to say that the Mayas were calendar-obsessed.

Their calculations were incredibly accurate. Without the help of calculators, computers, or telescopes, they were able to determine the length of a lunar month to be 29.53020 days. The actual length is 29.53059 days.1 Their solar year was calculated to be 365.2450 days minus an error of .002. Modern calculations put it at 365.2425 plus an error of .0003.2

The Mayans had three main calendars.3 One was a solar calendar that was based on 20 day months. The second was a ceremonial calendar that was related to the 260 day cycle of Venus. It was their third measure of time, the Long Count Calendar, that was related to the year 2012.

The Long Count Calendar was a measure of "world age cycles" that repeat over and over again. This calendar was divided into five units or cycles that started with the mythical date for the creation of the Mayas — August 11, 3114 BC. The fifth cycle was supposed to end on a date that corresponds to December 21, 2012 on the Gregorian Calendar that is used in the Western World. Since the calendar ends on that date, some modern day interpreters have jumped to the conclusion that it marks the date for the end of the world.

The man who put 2012 on the map as a pivotal date for world history was José Arguelles, a Mexican-American, who authored a mystical book in 1987 titled The Mayan Factor.4 He was also instrumental that year in organizing a worldwide event called the Harmonic Convergence.5 During two days in August, people were urged to gather at sacred sites to awaken the "energy grid" of the world and thus initiate a 25-year era of spiritual growth that would culminate in 2012.

Since that time, a man by the name of Christian John Meoli has been organizing and conducting 2012 conferences that have the flavor of a Star Trek convention. He plans to hold the final conference on December 21, 2012 at the Mayan pyramids in Mexico. He describes 2012 as "the shift,” and the slogan for his conferences is "Shift Happens."6

Meanwhile, the History Channel on television has promoted the 2012 craze with a zeal, broadcasting a whole series of programs focused on the date: "Mayan Doomsday Prophecy" (2006), "Last Days on Earth" (2006), "Doomsday 2012: The End of Days" (2007), "Seven Signs of the Apocalypse" (2009), and "Nostradamus 2012" (2009).

In the next installment of this 2012 series, we'll look at the apocalyptic factors that are used to substantiate the doomsday date of 2012.

Messianic Prophecy in the Old Testament

Jack KelleyBy Jack Kelley

In the time after their sin and expulsion from the Garden, Adam and Eve must have felt incredible despair. They had experienced life both before and after the curse, the only ones to do so, and had first hand knowledge of the difference. And what a difference it was. Even the part of it we can relate to had to have been devastating.

For example suppose that one day you were the resident manager of the world’s richest and most luxurious estate, with all of its comforts and privileges, and the next you were a poor hardscrabble farmer, at the opposite end of the economic and social structure. And that was just the beginning. How about no longer being immortal, no longer one with Him in spirit.

The Seed of the Woman

To keep them from becoming exceedingly despondent, God had promised them a redeemer. In Genesis 3:15 we read,

And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring (seed) and hers; he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel.”
He was speaking to the one indwelling the serpent and in Hebrew the promise contains a biological impossibility. Seed comes from the male. It’s the Bible’s first hint of a virgin birth. An offspring of the woman’s would destroy Satan and reverse the consequences of the act he had manipulated, redeeming mankind from its bondage to sin.

Two chapters later in Genesis 5 the Bible gives us another hint of this. The Hebrew root words of the names of the 10 patriarchs listed there form a sentence. In English it reads like this.
“Man is appointed mortal sorrow, but the blessed God will come down teaching that His death will bring the despairing rest.” (For detail click here)
It’s a prophecy that God Himself would come to Earth as the Seed of the Woman, and man’s redeemer.

Centuries later, this was confirmed by the Prophet Isaiah.
For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. (Isaiah 9:6)
As New Testament believers we can see that the five names listed here describe all three members of the Trinity. Wonderful is the name by which The Angel of the Lord identified Himself while visiting Samson’s parents. (Judges 13:18) When the phrase “The Angel of the Lord” appears in the Old testament, it’s in conjunction with a pre-incarnate visit by the Lord Jesus. That He’s being referenced here is confirmed by the title, Prince of Peace. Jesus called the Holy spirit the Counselor in John 14:26, and Mighty God and everlasting Father can only refer to God.

A Descendant of Abraham

In Genesis 12:1-3 the origin of this redeemer becomes clearer. There God promised Abraham that all the nations of Earth would be blessed through him, and Genesis 22 had Abraham act this out with the sacrifice of Isaac, Abraham’s “only son” on Mt. Moriah. 2,000 years later another Father would offer His only Son as a sacrifice for sin in that same place. Abraham knew this and named the place Jehovah Jireh, saying,
“On the mountain of the Lord it will be provided” (Gen. 22:14).
The Lion of Judah

Later, as Abraham’s grandson Jacob neared death, he narrowed it down still more by saying that all of Israel’s kings including the ultimate one, “the one to whom it belongs”, would come from among the descendants of one of his sons, Judah, (Gen. 49:10) giving birth to the title “Lion of Judah” as a Messianic reference.

The Son of David

In 2 Samuel 7:12-15 we read that David longed to build a Temple for God, but God refused him, saying that it would take a man of peace to build a house for Him. He said that David’s son Solomon would be that man, and during Solomon’s reign Israel experienced peace as never before or since. But to ease David’s disappointment God promised to build him a “house” and the Davidic Dynasty was founded. Hence forth there would always be a direct descendant of David’s on the throne of Israel. It was an everlasting promise made in about 1000 BC, and Solomon would be the first fulfillment. But since neither Solomon nor any other Davidic King was flogged by men for “doing wrong” (2 Sam. 7:14) there’s a lot more going on here than meets the eye. The wording casts shadows of the Messiah.

So through God’s progressive revelation we’ve narrowed things down from learning that the redeemer would be a son of Eve’s, which would exclude no one, to the family of Abraham, then Judah, then David. But we’re not finished yet. Over the next 400 years the Davidic Kings went from bad to worse with few exceptions. Finally, in the time of the Prophet Jeremiah God had had enough and pronounced a blood curse on the Davidic line, saying that no son of then King Jehoiachin would ever rule over Israel. (Jere. 22:30) The Davidic line, begun with Solomon, was seemingly ended and God’s promise to David broken.

The Branch

However, before the nation was taken to Babylon, while a Davidic King still sat on the throne, God had Ezekiel announce that the line was being suspended and wouldn’t be restored until “He comes to whom it rightfully belongs.” (Ezekiel 21:27) recalling Jacob’s prophecy to mind. In 519 BC, after the Jews had returned from the Babylonian captivity, God said that a man He called The Branch would be that one, and that He would hold the priesthood as well, combining the two. (Zechariah 6:12). There are four references to The Branch in the old testament and all point to the Messiah.

Born of a Virgin, Born in Bethlehem

But how was God going to get around the blood curse? For the answer to that, we have to back up to about 750 BC. In that time two of the most specific Messianic prophecies ever given narrowed the field down to just one possibility. In Isaiah 7:14 the Lord proclaimed that the Messiah would be born of a virgin, and in Micah 5:2 that he would be born in Bethlehem, the City of David.

In order to legally qualify for a seat on David’s throne, the Messiah King would have to be of the house and lineage of David. To be from the house of David means being a biological descendant of David’s. Being of David’s lineage means belonging to the Royal Line. How can this be?

When we read the Lord’s genealogies in Matt. 1 and Luke 3, we can see differences beginning at the time of David. Matthew’s genealogy runs through Solomon, the cursed royal line. But Luke’s goes through Solomon’s brother Nathan. Nathan’s line wasn’t cursed, but neither were they kings. Further study reveals that Matthew is actually giving us Joseph’s genealogy while Luke shows us Mary’s. Both were descended from David, and in addition Joseph was one of many who were heir to David’s throne but unable to claim it because of the curse on his line.

So through His mother Mary, Jesus was a biological descendant of David’s. When Mary and Joseph became husband and wife, Jesus also became Joseph’s legal son and heir to David’s Throne. But not being biologically related to Joseph, He didn’t have the blood curse. He was of both the house and lineage of David. To this day He’s the only man born in Israel since 600BC with a legitimate claim to David’s throne. The angel Gabriel confirmed this to Mary when he told her that although a virgin, she would soon give birth to the Son of God, who would occupy it forever. (Luke 1:32-33) Isaiah 9:7 had revealed the same fact centuries earlier. God’s promise to David stands.

Daniel and the Magi

200 years after Micah identified Bethlehem as the Messiah’s birthplace, The Lord told Daniel the time of His death. It would be 483 years after the decree to rebuild and restore Jerusalem following the Babylonian captivity, but before an enemy army came to destroy it again. (Daniel 9:24-27) This places the Messiah’s death somewhere between 32 and 70 AD according to our reckoning of time.

Daniel formed a group of Persian Priests to pass this information down from father to son, and according to tradition set aside the bulk of his personal wealth as a gift for them to present to the Messiah when the time came for His birth. He apparently also gave them a confirming sign to look for from Numbers 24:17, later known as the Star of Bethlehem. By recreating the ancient skies through computer modeling, scientists have recently announced the discovery of this star, actually a conjunction of Jupiter and Venus, that next to the moon was the brightest light in the middle eastern sky at the time of the Lord’s birth.

The descendants of these priests, now a very influential political force in Parthia (as Persia came to be known), remained true to Daniel’s commission, and upon seeing the star set out for Jerusalem. Arriving there they sought an audience with King Herod, asking for the whereabouts of the one born to be King of Israel. Summoning the chief priests, Herod repeated the question and was referred to Micah 5:2 where Bethlehem is identified. The Parthian priests, or Magi as we call them, went there and found the baby Jesus.

The field of candidates for Redeemer of Mankind, the Seed of the Woman, the Descendant of Abraham, the Lion of Judah, the Son of David, the Messiah of Israel, had been narrowed down to one. His name is Jesus.

Faith in Action

By faith, with nothing more than Daniel’s word to their ancestors, the Magi mounted up and undertook a dangerous 800 mile trip into enemy territory to meet the Messiah. (The Parthians and Romans were technically at war.) With 4000 years of fulfilled prophetic scripture in their hands, the chief priests, who no longer took it literally, refused to join them for the last 5 miles from Jerusalem to Bethlehem to see if God’s Word really was true. In so doing, the leaders of the people He came to save missed out on the central event in human history, consigning themselves to eternal separation from the very God they had been seeking.

If history repeats itself like they say it does, then when He comes back many of today’s religious experts, who also don’t take the prophecies literally, will make the same mistake. As you recall the Reason for the Season, take time to thank Him for making you like the Magi instead of like them.

New York Times Publishes Surprising Christmas Eve Op-Ed — Only Way to Stop Iran is for U.S. to Bomb

Joel C. RosenbergBy Joel C. Rosenberg

The New York Times ran a surprising op-ed column yesterday, “There’s Only One Way To Stop Iran,” by Alan J. Kuperman, director of the Nuclear Proliferation Prevention Program at the University of Texas at Austin. Kuperman spends the first two-thirds of the piece explaining why negotiations aren’t working, and why economic sanctions won’t ultimately stop Iran from building and deploying nuclear weapons either. He concludes by arguing the only way forward now are U.S.-led airstrikes.

Excerpts:

  • “Since peaceful carrots and sticks cannot work, and an invasion would be foolhardy, the United States faces a stark choice: military air strikes against Iran’s nuclear facilities or acquiescence to Iran’s acquisition of nuclear weapons.
  • “The risks of acquiescence are obvious. Iran supplies Islamist terrorist groups in violation of international embargoes. Even President Ahmadinejad’s domestic opponents support this weapons traffic. If Iran acquired a nuclear arsenal, the risks would simply be too great that it could become a neighborhood bully or provide terrorists with the ultimate weapon, an atomic bomb.
  • As for knocking out its nuclear plants, admittedly, aerial bombing might not work. Some Iranian facilities are buried too deeply to destroy from the air. There may also be sites that American intelligence is unaware of. And military action could backfire in various ways….
  • “But history suggests that military strikes could work. Israel’s 1981 attack on the nearly finished Osirak reactor prevented Iraq’s rapid acquisition of a plutonium-based nuclear weapon and compelled it to pursue a more gradual, uranium-based bomb program. A decade later, the Persian Gulf war uncovered and enabled the destruction of that uranium initiative, which finally deterred Saddam Hussein from further pursuit of nuclear weapons (a fact that eluded American intelligence until after the 2003 invasion). Analogously, Iran’s atomic sites might need to be bombed more than once to persuade Tehran to abandon its pursuit of nuclear weapons.
  • “As for the risk of military strikes undermining Iran’s opposition, history suggests that the effect would be temporary. For example, NATO’s 1999 air campaign against Yugoslavia briefly bolstered support for President Slobodan Milosevic, but a democratic opposition ousted him the next year.
  • “Yes, Iran could retaliate by aiding America’s opponents in Iraq and Afghanistan, but it does that anyway. Iran’s leaders are discouraged from taking more aggressive action against United States forces — and should continue to be — by the fear of provoking a stronger American counter-escalation. If nothing else, the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan have shown that the United States military can oust regimes in weeks if it wants to.
  • “Incentives and sanctions will not work, but air strikes could degrade and deter Iran’s bomb program at relatively little cost or risk, and therefore are worth a try. They should be precision attacks, aimed only at nuclear facilities, to remind Iran of the many other valuable sites that could be bombed if it were foolish enough to retaliate.
  • “The final question is, who should launch the air strikes? Israel has shown an eagerness to do so if Iran does not stop enriching uranium….
  • “But there are three compelling reasons that the United States itself should carry out the bombings. First, the Pentagon’s weapons are better than Israel’s at destroying buried facilities. Second, unlike Israel’s relatively small air force, the United States military can discourage Iranian retaliation by threatening to expand the bombing campaign. (Yes, Israel could implicitly threaten nuclear counter-retaliation, but Iran might not perceive that as credible.) Finally, because the American military has global reach, air strikes against Iran would be a strong warning to other would-be proliferators.”

O Little Town of Bethlehem! - The Place of Our Savior’s Birth

J.R. ChurchBy J.R. Church

The prophet Micah actually named the place where the Messiah would be born. He wrote:

But thou Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from old, from everlasting" (Micah 5:2).
Even King Herod’s Temple advisors could tell him where Israel’s future king would be born:
"When he had gathered all the chief priests and scribes of the people together, he demanded of them where Christ should be born.

"And they said unto him, In Bethlehem of Judea: for thus it is written by the prophet" (Matt. 2:4,5).
Located just five miles south of Jerusalem, Bethlehem was the home town of David, who became king. It was the place where Rachel, mother of Joseph and Benjamin, was buried.

Matthew tells us that when Herod slaughtered the children under two years of age, it was the fulfillment of an Old Testament prophecy:
"Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by Jeremiah the prophet: saying,

"In Rama was there a voice heard, lamentation, and weeping, and a great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children, and would not be comforted, because they are not" (Matt. 2:17,18).
The passage in the second chapter of Micah actually takes the reader into the far future to the Tribulation Period. He opens the previous chapter (4) by saying:
"But in the last days ..."
So, why did Micah digress to tell us about the first advent of Christ? We have only to read Micah 5:3 to learn why:
"Therefore will he give them up, until the time that she which travaileth hath brought forth: then the remnant of his brethren shall return unto the children of Israel" (Micah 5:3).
Micah reminds us that the First Advent of the Messiah was not for the purpose of setting up the Messianic Kingdom. Christ came back then to be rejected. As a result. Jesus gave them up for judgment. The Romans destroyed Jerusalem; and sold the Chosen People on the slave markets of the world.

The verse tells us that He gave them up until the time that Israel would be in travail. Micah says,
"the remnant of his brethren shall return!"
And that brings us to our generation. Out of the Jewish holocaust of World War II, wherein six million Jews were slaughtered, the nation of Israel was birthed.

We celebrate the birth of our Savior each December, but we are fully aware that today, Israel is poised to be blessed by the return of the Great King who was born in Bethlehem.

In spite of all that Satan might do to prevent heaven’s kingdom, nothing can stop it. Jesus is coming to this generation. We know this because of the rebirth of Israel. The "remnant" has returned!

Bethlehem was also the city of Ruth and Boaz. Ruth is a type of the Church. She was a Gentile bride who married Boaz, the kinsman redeemer. Ruth was concerned that Naomi’s kinsman redeemer buy back the land that Naomi had lost. Through the marriage, Naomi’s land was redeemed.

This is a prophecy fulfilled in 1948. Check out the history of the Jewish return and you will find that Christians helped to bring the Jews back to their ancient homeland.

Who got the better of the deal — Naomi, whose land was redeemed? Or Ruth, who married the kinsman redeemer? From my viewpoint, Ruth got the better deal. She lived out her life in the loving care of her husband. The name Ruth means, "beautiful companion." She once said to Naomi:
"Whither thou goest, I will go; and where thou lodgest, I will lodge: thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God" (Ruth 1:16).
That is the way Christians feel about the Jewish people. It is as if Jesus has put a love in our hearts for Israel that is nurtured by the Holy Spirit. We are so thankful that Jesus is our Savior! We long to see Him. The baby in Bethlehem’s manger deserves our loyal devotion. It is a privilege to be in the bride of Christ; to love His relatives; and help them regain their Promised Land. Let us continue to pray for the peace of Jerusalem and look for the coming King of kings to establish the Messianic kingdom in this generation.
