US Will Not Attend Durban II!

By Dr. David Hocking

BREAKING NEWS: U.S. PULLS OUT OF DURBAN II

Calls For U.S.-Led ‘Human Rights Coalition of the Willing’ to Convene Parallel Human Rights Conference!

The Simon Wiesenthal Center commends President Obama and Secretary of State Clinton for their decision not to attend the UN Durban II conference. Rabbis Marvin Hier and Abraham Cooper, SWC dean and founder and associate dean, received confirmation during a conference call between senior White House and State Department officials and leaders of major Jewish groups.
“It’s a clear signal to the international community that this Administration refuses to validate the hijacking of human rights by regimes led by Libya and Iran,” the Rabbis said.

“To further isolate the haters, we call on the Administration to forge a ‘human rights coalition of the willing’ led by the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom and European Union in tandem with the OSCE (Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe) and convene a parallel conference on April 21st to openly grapple with racism and discrimination in all its manifestations,” Center officials added.
Wiesenthal Center officials served as spokesmen for Jewish participants at the 2001 Durban I ‘hate-fest’ that took place in Durban South Africa just days before 9/11.

SWC International Relations Director Dr. Shimon Samuels has also attended many Durban II prepcoms manipulated by Libya, Iran and other serial human rights abusers to single out Israel alone for criticism, nix any discussion of Islamist extremism and clear the way for Holocaust deniers to be heard.

Driving Away Fear

By Chuck Missler

Japan and Taiwan are feeling the pain of plummeting exports. Nearly five million Americans are receiving unemployment benefits, and even the New York subway system is collecting less cash as fewer people need a train to get to work. We face the uncertainty of a crumbling economy. The government is throwing hundreds of billions of taxpayer dollars to try to prop it up like golden shovels against a collapsing sand castle, and we anticipate its crashing down and taking those expensive shovels with it. It is easy to be afraid.

Even in a cheerful economy, and even if we have solid jobs, there are a lot of things to fear. The danger is all around us. Professional kidnappers could snatch our kids to sell on the black market. Our cell phones might be giving us cancer. The asbestos from our elementary school 40 years ago might be giving us cancer. The preservatives in our food might give us cancer. If we eat out, we might get Hepatitis A or E coli, or mad cow disease. There are not enough bees pollinating the world's crops and orchards. The car tires we cannot afford to replace might erupt on the freeway, causing us to crash into a tractor-trailer and explode in a fiery ball.

There are plenty of things we can fear. Yet, fear does not protect us. If we concentrate on every potential danger and anticipate every disaster, we still may not be able to stop them. Even if we buy brand new tires, they can still pick up a nail and end up thub thubbing on the freeway. Even if we never ever eat out, we can still get E coli food poisoning from our spinach salad at home.

We have a responsibility to be wise stewards, to make good decisions, and yet as the great poet Robert Burns said so notably,
"The best laid schemes o' Mice an' Men, Gang aft agley."
That is, no matter how hard we try and how carefully we plan, things can still go terribly wrong.

It's Murphy's Law, after all. The buttered toast always lands face down, and if you have a vital presentation to give on Monday, the kids are sure to throw up all Sunday night.

Fear is natural, and it is a normal response to uncertainty and danger. Yet, fear is not a virtue like caution or prudence. Fear simply robs our lives of joy. The question is therefore, how do we face joblessness or drive on bad tires we can't afford to replace? How do we look at a pile of bills that we have no earthly way of paying and not worry?

Clothing the Lilies

Obviously God is the answer. Obviously we need to believe by faith that God truly does love us and cares about us and can be trusted with our lives. We need to believe what he said in Matthew about the lilies of the field,
"Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith? Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." - Matthew 6:30-33
Certainly trusting God and putting Him first is the answer. But, while it is easy to say we need to trust God, it is often much harder to do. Simon Peter knew Jesus personally and had watched him perform many miracles, and yet as he walked out to Jesus on the water, he was still frightened by the wind and waves, and he began to sink. We understand Peter; we're just like him.

So, how can we stop being afraid of the wind and waves when they are loud and crashing into our faces?

1) We love Him.
"There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment." -1 John 4:18
We love God because He first loved us, because He gave His Son for us, which alone is worth all the rejoicing in the world. And as we praise Him and worship Him and enjoy Him, the fear cannot remain.

2) We remember that the waves aren't real.

To us they are very real, and the salt water up our sinuses can be painful. But, in God's power, in God's eyes, they are nothing. To God, the terrible monsters that rise up above us to destroy us are merely origami tigers. They look fierce, but in God's hands they are no real danger. God does not need a good economy to provide for us and pay our bills. If He sees fit to give us a broken down car to drive, then He is capable of holding that broken down car together for us. He is never worried.

Not By Sight

God wants us to learn to live by faith and not by sight. Looks are more often deceiving than we realize. We mistake riches for blessing, and they may not be. We mistake meager paychecks with God's neglect rather than accepting them as part of His purposes for us for right now. Remember what Jesus said to the Church of the Laodiceans:
"Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked: I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see." - Revelation 3:17-18
These are the times when we decide what we truly believe. Are we playing games or do we really believe that our God is the God of the Universe, who faithfully holds together every atom in our hands? Will we truly hand our lives to Him and trust Him enough to say, as Job,
"Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him:" -Job 13:15.
Are we willing to buy of Jesus gold tried in the fire?

When Peter trusted Jesus, he did walk on water. God fed the Israelites manna every day in the barren wilderness, and their shoes did not wear out. God can do anything He wants to do. He's not worried. And since He's the God of the Universe, and He knows better, then we should not be worried either. Instead, let's offer Him a sacrifice of praise and love Him. Allow His perfect Love to drive the fear far far away.

The Foundation of My Faith

By Todd Strandberg

It is absolutely vital for believers to have a solid understanding of why they are members of the Christian faith. Millions of people think they are part of the body of Christ, but they have no idea what it really means to be saved. I've known dozens of people who confessed to be Christians for a time, but who later simply wandered away from the flock. It is like their faith in God came with an expiration date.

We tend to view salvation as being a boundless commodity. Jesus warned that it is a finite resource with a limited time offer:
“Because strait [is] the gate, and narrow [is] the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it” (Matt. 7:14).
The key reason some people have no grasp of faith is that they never established a meaningful relationship with their Creator. True believers stand firm in both good and bad times because they have a firm foundation for their faith. Carnal Christians will blow away when adversity comes or even when the Christian experience becomes boring to them.

In June of 2008, I got a first-hand look at the importance of having a good foundation of support. On a Saturday afternoon, severe thunderstorms came roaring through my area with 90 mph gusts. The force of the wind blew down two huge spruce trees in my front yard. After the storm, I was amazed to see that a group of cottonwood trees, which were twice as tall as my spruce trees, had suffered little damage. While surveying the mess, I realized why my spruce trees had fallen and the cottonwoods had remained standing: the tree's root system. Spruces are big and broad, but they have very shallow roots. Cottonwoods endure the wind because they have deep roots. In fact, I later learned that nurseries warn people not to plant cottonwoods too close to houses because their aggressive root systems can get into sewer lines.

There is a mirror reflection of my tree experience in Luke 6:47:
“Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will shew you to whom he is like: He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock. But he that heareth, and doeth not, is like a man that without a foundation built an house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great.”

The Pakistani Time Bomb

By Hal Lindsey

So far, the United States has given the government of Pakistan more than $12.3 billion in military and economic aid. Vice President Joe Biden proposed last summer that we throw another $7.5 billion in non-military aid Pakistan's way over the next five years.

But that isn't enough to keep Pakistan from failing as a state, says the Atlantic Council. The Atlantic Council describes itself at its website as
"promot[ing] constructive U.S. leadership and engagement in international affairs based on the central role of the Atlantic community in meeting the international challenges of the 21st century."
The Council is chaired by former Sen. Chuck Hagel, R-Neb. and Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., who is honorary chairman.

The Council's report says that...
"we (presumably America) are running out of time to help Pakistan change its present course toward increasing economic and political instability, and even ultimate failure."
The Council is concerned that Pakistan is unable to curtail al-Qaida, which operates openly in many parts of Pakistan, and the Taliban, which recently took over Swat, a region the size of Delaware. About 3,000 Taliban managed to fight off 12,000 Pakistani troops, forcing Islamabad into a truce.

The Pakistani government agreed to a very dangerous compromise that allows the region to be governed according to Shariah law. In effect, this was a capitulation to the Taliban that greatly increased their stature among the militant tribes along the Afghanistan/Pakistan border. This now puts the U.S. military at greater risk along their vulnerable eastern flank and endangers their supply route that must go through part of that territory from the Khyber Pass. It has also left a safe haven for the leaders of al-Qaida.

The Taliban is now free to keep order in the region by using such barbaric punishments as floggings, stonings, beheadings, burning of schools and execution of women for infractions which in the Western view are minor. These are things that supposedly the U.S. went to war to correct.

Under the terms of the accord, the chief minister of the province, Amir Haider Khan Hoti, said that Pakistani troops would now go on "reactive mode" and fight only in retaliation for an attack. In effect, these regions are now mini-states controlled by al-Qaida and the Taliban.

All of the above issues pale into insignificance compared to the danger of Pakistan's government failing and being taken over by the large number of Islamic Fundamentalists there.

If these Islamic fanatics take control of Pakistan's nuclear missiles, it will immediately be a much greater threat to the world than that posed by Iran, Afghanistan and Iraq put together.

Pakistan's nuclear arsenal is estimated to contain as many as 100 warheads. They have intermediate-range ballistic missiles to deliver them. They have also acquired the lethal nuclear-capable Babur cruise missiles. This year, Pakistan commissioned its first nuclear-missile capable submarine, the PNS Hamza. The Hamza can also fire Babur cruise missiles mounted with nuclear warheads.

So, what does it all mean? The big fear is that Pakistan's government will fall and be taken over by forces loyal to the Taliban and al-Qaida. Can you imagine what it would mean should Pakistan's considerable nuclear arsenal fall into the hands of al-Qaida?

I have always felt that we should have done everything possible to keep Gen. Musharraf in power. As one president rightly said,
"He may be a S.O.B., but he is our S.O.B."
He kept the Islamic militants at bay – something that the leaders the misinformed "human rights" activists pushed into power cannot do, no matter how much money we give them.

The Truth About Islam: Intolerance

By Dr. David R. Reagan

One of the most controversial issues regarding Islam concerns whether or not it is a militant religion. Muslims in the West argue it is peace-loving. Westerners who have experienced it in the Muslim world argue it is inherently intolerant and militant.

The Koran itself preaches intolerance toward other religions. Sura 5 contains the following command: "Take not Jews and Christians for friends... He among you who takes them for friends is one of them... Choose not for friends such of those who received the Scripture before you [Jews and Christians]... But keep your duty to Allah" (verses 51, 55, 57). Extreme intolerance is commanded in Sura 5:33 — "[For those who do not submit to Allah] their punishment is... execution or crucifixion, or the cutting off of hands and feet, from the opposite sides, or exile from the land."

The Koran also expresses an intolerant attitude toward any person who decides to reject the Islamic faith or convert to another religion. Such persons are to be executed (Sura 9:12). In the Hadith (the oral tradition of Muhammad's sayings) it says "Whoever changes his religion, kill him" (Hadith 9:57). These commands are practiced in all Islamic Fundamentalist countries today.

With regard to militancy, the Koran not only condones it, it commands it:

"Fighting is prescribed for you, and [some of] you dislike it. But it is possible that you dislike a thing which is good for you, and that you love a thing which is bad for you. But Allah knows, and you know not" (Sura 2:216).

"Fight and slay the pagans wherever you find them, beleaguer them, and lie in wait for them in every stratagem of war" (Sura 9:5).

"Fight in the way of Allah... and slay them [the unbelievers] wherever you find them and drive them out... and fight them until... religion is for Allah" (Sura 2:190-193).

Muhammad is quoted in the Hadith as saying, "The sword is the key of heaven and hell. A drop of blood in the cause of Allah — a night spent in arms [war] — is of more avail than two months of fasting and prayer. Whosoever falls in battle, his sins are forgiven, and at the day of judgment, his limbs shall be supplied by the wings of angels and cherubim."1

Muslim Propaganda

Muslims living in Western democracies try to defend their religion by quoting Sura 2:256 which says, "There is no compulsion in religion."

In evaluating this very lonely verse in the Koran, you need to keep in mind first that it was written before Muhammad was rejected by Jews, Christians and his fellow Arabs — before he fled to Medina and started responding in hatred to all his detractors. But even more important is the fact that Islamic teachers themselves argue that this verse was later abrogated, either by the words or actions of Muhammad.2

  1. Some argue that the verse was abrogated by Muhammad's later orders for his troops to fight until unbelievers were compelled to surrender to Islam.
  2. Others argue it was abrogated by Sura 9:73 which says, "O Prophet, struggle with the unbelievers and hypocrites, and be harsh with them."
  3. A third group argues that the words of the verse do not mean what they seem to say. They argue the words mean that religion cannot be used to force someone to do something evil, but compelling people to accept the truth of Allah is a religious duty.
  4. A fourth group of Islamic clerics accepts the words to mean what they say, but they argue that they were part of Allah's strategy to advance Islam. While Muslims were weak, Allah spoke through Muhammad and told them to tolerate infidels. But when the Muslims became strong, Allah commanded them to cease being tolerant and attack and subdue the infidels.

The bottom line is that regardless of the explanation, the result is the same — the verse has been abrogated, and infidels must embrace Islam or face death.

Muslims sometimes counter by pointing to the intolerance and violence that have characterized both Jews and Christians at certain times in their histories. They point to the slaughter of the Canaanites when the Jews took the Promised Land under the leadership of Joshua. And, of course, they point to the Christian Crusades in the Middle Ages. Using these examples, they accuse Jews and Christians of being hypocritical in attacking the intolerance and violence of Islam today.

With regard to the Jews, this argument ignores the fact that God used them as an instrument of His judgment against the tribes living in Canaan — just as He later used the Assyrians and Chaldeans to judge the Jews (Genesis 15:16; Leviticus 18:24-25; Deuteronomy 9:5). He never told the Jews to conquer the world for Him, and He provided them with precise instructions as to how they were to treat aliens who might wish to live among them. They were to be treated with dignity and were to be provided with justice (Leviticus 19:17, 33 and Deuteronomy 27:19). Even more, the Jews were commanded to love their neighbors as they loved themselves (Leviticus 19:18).

Regarding the Christian Crusades, they were an aberration in Christian history based upon perverted Catholic doctrine and not upon any biblical injunction. In contrast, the intolerance and violence that have characterized Islam throughout its history are firmly rooted in the Koran.

What a contrast all the ghastly commands of Muhammad are to the loving words of Jesus who told Christians:

"Love your enemies, and pray for those who persecute you" (Matthew 5:44).

"Whoever slaps you on your right cheek, turn to him the other also" (Matthew 5:39).

"Do not judge, lest you be judged" (Matthew 7:1).

"However you want people to treat you, so treat them" (Matthew 7:12).

"You shall love your neighbor as yourself" (Matthew 22:39).

"This is my commandment that you love one another" (John 15:12, 17).

"Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends" (John 15:13).

And what a contrast it is between the admonition of Muhammad to conquer for Allah with the sword and Jesus' exhortation to go forth in peace and appeal to people's hearts through the preaching of the Gospel, relying on the persuasive power of God's Holy Spirit.

US Political and Economic Turmoil Could Be Prophetically Related to Treatment of Israel

By Bill Wilson

God tells Abram in Genesis 12:2-3,

"And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you, and make your name great; and you shall be a blessing: And I will bless them that bless you, and curse him that curses you: and in you shall families of the earth be blessed."
And so throughout history those who blessed Israel were blessed and those who cursed Israel were cursed. This promise is one that can be traced throughout not only the texts of the Bible, but also through the texts of historical accounts written by many across the ages. From the empire of Babylon to the Roman Empire to Nazi Germany, those who blessed Israel and its people were blessed and those who cursed them were cursed.

Given America's Biblical roots as a Christian nation, it is no surprise that the United States was instrumental in re-establishing the prophetic nation of Israel in 1948. And the United States has been a supporter of Israel ever since. When US leadership has opposed Israel there has been economic disruptions, political confusion, even natural disasters and other calamities visited upon America. This has been documented by White House correspondent William Koenig in his groundbreaking book, "Eye to Eye: Facing the Consequences of Dividing Israel." Koenig connects the dots on how the costliest disasters in American history have occurred within 48 hours of Presidents Bush, Clinton and Bush applying pressure on Israel to give up land for peace.

According to the historic documentation provided by Koenig, the United States could be in for some real tough times. President George W Bush was the first president to openly call for a Palestinian state "living side by side in peace with Israel." During Bush's tenure America faced tremendous disasters such as hurricane Katrina, the stock market meltdown, the mortgage and lending crisis, even 9/11, within hours after the Bush Administration applied pressure on Israel to divide its land with the Palestinians. While America remained a general strategic supporter of Israel at the United Nations, there appeared to be consequences each time Bush or Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice pressured Israel on land for peace.

Enter the new Administration and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. Clinton and Middle East envoy George Mitchell are set to apply even greater pressures on Israel to give up its land for peace. Clinton has set the stage by publicly criticizing Israel for holding up aid to Gaza even though it is likely to fall into the hands of terrorists who still control the area. Israeli leaders believe her comments signal a change in policy toward Israel. Clinton's husband received tens of millions of dollars from Arab interests for his Presidential library. The anti-Israel connections and remarks appear to be having an impact as well as the White House's conciliatory message to radical Islam-just look at the stock market, the economy and political turmoil in Washington, DC.

Jewish Leaders Blast the ‘New Hillary’

By Jack Kinsella

In a swift about face from her views as New York’s senator, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is now hammering Israel over its treatment of Palestinians in Gaza.

As First Lady, Clinton raised eyebrows when she kissed Suha Arafat.

On Thursday, as Secretary of State she had yet another about face in the form of angry messages demanding Israel speed up aid to Gaza. Jewish leaders are furious.

“I am very surprised, frankly, at this statement from the United States government and from the secretary of state,” said Mortimer Zuckerman, publisher of the New York Daily News and member of the NYC Jewish Community Relations Council.

“I liked her a lot more as a senator from New York,” Assemblyman Dov Hikind, D-Brooklyn, said. “Now, I wonder as I used to wonder who the real Hillary Clinton is.”

Clinton’s decision to hammer Israel comes as the Clintons and President Barack Obama are planning to give the Palestinians $900 million toward the rebuilding of Gaza in the wake of the Israeli offensive that was sparked by Hamas rocket fire.
Apparently, the Obama administration’s dedication to rewarding bad behavior isn’t limited to domestic n’er-do-wells. If robbing widows and orphans earns a bailout for Wall Street, then the indiscriminate firing of rockets into Israeli towns and villages ought to rate at least $900 million for Hamas.

Education Choices: We Don't Need No Thought Control

By Chuck Missler

Spring will officially arrive in just less than a month. High school students are busy applying to colleges, and parents of 4-year-olds have to move quickly to get their little ones into limited pre-school spots. It's the time of year when adults fill out applications to go back to school, and impatient fifth graders feel summer will never come.

We all know a good education is vital. In the "old" days, our forefathers wanted to make sure children were literate so that they could read the Bible. Yet, not only is the Word of God hardly permitted through school doors these days, but too many high schools churn out students who know more about condoms than about history or grammar. Parents wonder how to both give their kids a great education and protect their hearts. Happily, an increasing number of education choices have been made available during the past few decades.

Home-School

After decades of fighting for the right to educate their children at home, home-schooling parents have gained massive miles of ground. In the 1980s, states and education organizations battled against parents who wanted to home-school; today home-schooling is legal in every state, and many states promote home-schooling by offering parents a variety of helps. Cooperative school districts allow students to take selected classes from public schools and even participate in after-school sports. The reporting requirements for home-schooling differ from state to state, but those requirements are spelled out and easily accessible online. There is no longer a single state that absolutely requires parents to be certified in order to teach their own children. The stigma has slowly been worn away, and countless thousands of families are enjoying their God-given rights to raise their own kids.

Thanks to groups like the Home School Legal Defense Association (HSLDA), new victories are being made every year. On Monday, the Virginia House passed Senate Bill 1547 without opposition, making it possible for home-school students to be eligible for scholarships just like other students. The state needs to develop standards for giving home-schoolers the equivalent of a grade point average for scholarships that require one.

It benefits states to promote and foster home-schooling. Not only do home-school students tend to excel, but students who stay home also free up seats in overcrowded public school classrooms, benefiting the rest of the students.

Home-School Co-ops

Home-schooling is not easy. It requires commitment and time and energy from parents and students alike. Home-school co-ops and support groups have sprouted and matured in every state. Some co-ops are simple once-a-month gatherings in which parents connect and take their students on field trips. Some co-ops offer once-a-week science or art or music classes. Some co-ops have become consistent, frequent gatherings in which parents partner up to teach students. Then, there are co-ops like the Christian Family Cooperative, which is like an actual school three days per week. Half the week 150 students meet for morning classes at Christian Family, and the rest of the week their parents fill in the gaps. These types of supports have helped increasingly more parents enjoy home-school as an option.

Charter Schools

Not all families are able to home-school due to financial or time constraints. Yet, parents in poor or high-population areas have long sought alternatives to their failing public schools. Charter schools have proven to be a reasonable second choice in many cities. Charter schools are funded by taxes just like regular public schools, but they are freed from a lot of the red tape that hobbles public education. Charter schools operate under a pact – a "charter" – with the local school system. They get the freedom to hire their own teachers and use their own teaching methods, but in return they have to maintain high standards. For instance, a charter school might hire a historian with great communication skills, even if he does not have a state teaching certification. If the charter school fails to produce results, it can be shut down. This increased freedom paired with accountability has allowed charter schools to succeed.

In January, Donna Gundle-Krieg wrote in the Education Improvement Examiner,

"While many charter schools are great, some have been closed for not performing. Doesn't the closing of non-performing schools demonstrate the accountability of the system? Have you ever seen a public school closed for non-performance?"
Touché.

Noting the success of charter schools, Bill Gates said in his January 2009 letter from his pro-education foundation,
"If you want your child to get the best education possible, it's actually more important to get him assigned to a great teacher than to a great school."
We all know the truth of that statement. We all can think of incredible teachers who gave us a love for the subject matter by the way they taught it. We also can all remember wretched teachers who made every day a droning misery. Charter schools have the freedom to focus on getting great teachers, whoever they may be.

Private Schools

Many parents would love to send their children to private schools. Not only are class sizes smaller, offering teachers more one-on-one time with students, but the family atmosphere of many small private schools promotes tremendous parent-teacher communication. Parents can know exactly what their children are being taught and feel confident that their children's education will match their values. The problem of course is the cost. Public school is "free" and private school is not. There are options, however! Many private schools offer scholarships for low-income students. As the economy tilts, private schools may have a difficult time keeping students and may be willing to make deals with parents determined to find a way.

School vouchers are another option in a few states like Wisconsin, Georgia, and Louisiana. The Supreme Court declared in 2002 that school vouchers were not illegal, freeing states to offer parents vouchers to send their children to private schools when public schools were floundering. To find out what is going on with vouchers in your state, see the links below.

Public Schools Plus

The majority of parents will choose to send their kids to the public school down the road, with a school bus to pick them up in the morning and bring them home in the evening. While some parents are disgusted with their public schools, they still see no workable alternative for their children. On the other hand, many parents believe their local schools are just fine. There are some excellent, dedicated teachers in public schools, and many parents will be pleased with what they are getting with their tax dollars. Despite the NEA, public school teachers and administrators can still have the same values as the parents of the community, and do a great job. Many wonderful public school teachers are just as frustrated with the state of the union as parents are, and should be treated as partners and not enemies.

Still, we live in a confusing world, filled with a flurry of conflicting ideas. Plenty of public school classes are absolutely anti-Christian and promote humanism as a matter-of-fact. Parents need to make sure their kids have a solid Biblical world view and know how to defend their faith when they go to school or college or out into the world. Whatever school children attend, there are many things parents can do to prepare kids for the serious ideological battles they will face as teens and young adults. For instance:
  • Turn off the television. You don't have to become Attila the TV Destroyer, but limit the amount of time kids spend in front of a screen.
  • Spend time with your kids. Enjoy their company. Learn about them. Let them learn about you. Your kids will be more likely to listen to you if they have a real, warm relationship with you.
  • Take the time to help them with school work. This not only keeps you up on what they're studying, but helps them learn the material. If you can't remember how to do algebra, find somebody who does. Encourage your kids. Let them know you're behind them.
  • Engage in interesting discussions with your children about important issues. Ask them what they think about sex, about the existence of God, about the morality of throwing somebody off a life boat (for those of you who remember that happy little social experiment). Work through controversies with them so that they can both learn to be good thinkers and also understand solid answers to hard questions. Give them reliable, age-appropriate information. If you don't know the answers to their questions, hunt down the answers with them.
  • Read together. After all, with the television off, you need to find something else to do. Read classics. Read mysteries. Pick out books on controversial subjects that interest your kids, and take turns reading while doing the dishes or drawing or putting together jigsaw puzzles.
  • Go to conferences. For instance, Summit Ministries offers week-long conferences for both students and adults. The conferences are geared toward helping students know how to defend a Biblical worldview. There are ministries that focus on evolution/creation issues, or the historicity of the Bible, or promoting healthy relationships, or the Christian history of America. Find a ministry that focuses on a subject of interest to your kids, and go learn all you can together.
We have a lot of options these days in seeking out what is best for our kids. In the end, parents are responsible for raising their children, and we all need to do so prayerfully, carefully, and with the guidance of our own Heavenly Father. It's our responsibility to give our kids the tools they need to be strong, bright lamps on a hill, and not allow their lights to be puffed out by deceptions and misinformation.
"But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:" -1 Peter 3:15

The Truth About Islam: Spiritual

By Dr. David R. Reagan

Islam is a typical works salvation religion centered around a false god. Its fundamental tenets deny the heart of the Christian Gospel, revealing its demonic origin.

The Koran — As I have already pointed out, the holy book of Islam is riddled with contradictions. Consider, for example, what it says about creation. In one place it asserts that Allah created everything in "the twinkling of an eye" (Sura 54:49-50). Elsewhere it says that the time period of the creation was two days (Sura 41:9, 12); four days (Sura 41:10); six days (Suras 7:54, 10:4, and 32:4); in "a day equaling 1,000 years" (Sura 32:5); and also in "50,000 years" (Sura 70:4). That's a total of six different time periods!

The Koran contains many scientific errors. A crude example is found in Sura 18:8-86 where it says that Alexander the Great followed the setting of the sun and discovered that it went down into the waters of a muddy spring!

Many Arabian fairy tales about genies are contained in the Koran, and the book is also full of historical errors. It presents Mary the mother of Jesus as the sister of Moses and Aaron (obviously confusing her with their sister, Miriam). The Noahic flood is placed in the time of Moses, and the claim is made that one of Noah's sons refused to enter the Ark and was drowned.

The Koran also pictures Abraham as offering Ishmael as a sacrifice in Mecca, whereas the biblical account has Abraham offering Isaac on Mt. Moriah in the area that would later become the heart of Jerusalem.

God — The Koran asserts that the god of Islam is the God of Christians and Jews (Sura 29:46). Nothing could be farther from the truth.1

The god of Islam, Allah, is most definitely not the God of the Bible. Allah is presented in the Koran as an autocratic ruler who is aloof and arbitrary (Sura 5:40). Allah is unknowable whereas the God of the Bible is knowable (2 Timothy 1:12). Allah is impersonal, unlike the personal God the Scriptures reveal (1 Peter 5:6-7). Allah is unitarian (Sura 4:48) whereas the God of the Bible is trinitarian (2 Corinthians 13:14). Here is what the Koran says about the God of the Bible (Sura 4:171):

"Believe in Allah and say not 'Trinity.' Cease! It is better for you! Allah is only One God. Far is it removed from his transcendent majesty that he should have a son."

Allah is capricious (Sura 2:284), whereas the true God is trustworthy. And Allah is never anywhere presented as a god of love — which is the essence of the nature of the true God (1 John 4:7-16).

Jesus — The Koran denies point blank that Jesus was the Son of God (Sura 112:2-3). It also denies His atoning sacrifice by claiming that he never died (Sura 4:157). A substitute died for Him on the Cross. Jesus was translated to Heaven, like Enoch, where He will remain until He returns to kill all pigs, destroy all crosses, and convert the world to Islam. Jesus will marry, reign for 40 years and then die and be buried next to Muhammad in Medina.2 Jesus is characterized in the Koran as nothing more than "an apostle of Allah" (Sura 4:171).

Sin — There is no concept of sin in Islam and therefore no need for forgiveness. Shame replaces sin. Everything is a matter of honor verses dishonor.3 In the Muslim view, man does not need redemption, he only needs some guidance so that he might develop the inherently pure nature with which the Creator has endowed him. If he will be faithful in his prayers, almsgiving and fasting, God is likely to overlook his failures and usher him into Paradise.4

Ethics — The situation determines the appropriate action, not a standard of right and wrong. As an example, Al Ghazzali (1058-1111), one of the greatest Muslim theologians, wrote:

"Know that a lie is not wrong in itself. If a lie is the only way of obtaining a good result, it is permissible. We must lie when truth leads to unpleasant results."5
The Koran sanctions revenge:
"If anyone transgresses... against you, transgress likewise against him" (Sura 2:194).

Salvation — Islam is a religion of works. One obtains favor with Allah by performing the five pillars of the faith:

  • Reciting the creed that there is one god, Allah, and his prophet is Muhammad.
  • Praying five times a day toward Mecca.
  • Giving alms to the poor.
  • Fasting from sunrise to sunset one month a year during the month of Ramadan.
  • Making a pilgrimage to Mecca.

Another way to reach Paradise is to die fighting for Allah (Sura 3:157).

Islam is so works oriented that it teaches that good deeds cancel bad ones (Sura 11:114). In contrast to all this emphasis on works, the true Word of God teaches that it is impossible to earn salvation because it is a gift of God's grace that is received through faith in Jesus as Lord and Savior (Ephesians 2:8-10).

Heaven — The Islamic Paradise is a place of sensual pleasure consisting of gluttonous feasts and endless sex orgies (Suras 52:17-24; 55:54-56; and 78:32-34).

Turkey Compares Netanyahu with Hamas!

By Dr. David Hocking

Israel-Turkey Relations Go South as PM Compares Netanyahu with Hamas!
(Israel Today News)

Tensions between Israel and Turkey escalated this week when Turkish Prime Minister Recep Erdogan compared incoming Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s approach to the peace process to that of Hamas.

In an interview with London’s Guardian newspaper, Erdogan said that he cannot be expected to continue pushing Hamas to accept Israel’s existence when Netanyahu doesn’t accept the creation of a Palestinian state.

Said Erdogan:
“Is Israel right now accepting Palestine? They are still not accepting them. But it is being expected of the Palestinian people to accept Israel. Now go and ask Mr. Netanyahu if he is accepting Palestine.”
Netanyahu has suggested that he will put the creation of a Palestinian Arab state on the back burner, since no leader has risen that is capable of or willing to fulfill commitments to Israel, and instead focus on bettering the lives of average Palestinians through economic growth.

Relations between Israel and Turkey, which were traditionally very strong, took a turn for the worse last month when Erdogan made himself the most outspoken international critic of Israel’s military offensive against the Hamas terrorist infrastructure in Gaza.

Erdogan even clashed personally with Israeli President Shimon Peres at a conference in Europe during the Gaza war.

In a sign that the friction is trickling down to the general public, Turkish television on Tuesday began airing a miniseries that focuses on Israel’s alleged role in spreading prostitution and drugs in Turkey.

Deficits, Socialism, and the Media

By Bill Wilson

I am one of the old timers who remembers the Reagan Administration and how much heat the President was getting for submitting a budget that carried a record setting $128 billion in 1982. Legendary Democratic House Speaker Tip O'Neill in November 1981 told the news media,
"He knows less about the budget than any president in my lifetime. He can't even carry on a conversation about the budget. It's an absolute and utter disgrace."
President Reagan left office with a deficit of about $152 Billion, according to the Office of Management and Budget. But Reagan's choice was not to spend us out of a dire recession left by his predecessor Jimmy Carter, but to cut taxes, control government growth, and expand the free market.

Let us also remember that President Carter's economic plan threw the United States into its worse recession since the Great Depression. Unemployment nationwide climbed to 10.8% in the aftermath of Carter and during the first two years of the Reagan Administration. There were cities in the US-Youngstown, Ohio and Decatur, Illinois-where unemployment topped out at over 20%. Inflation moved in parallel with unemployment, topping out at 13% in 1980-the last year of Carter's presidency, sliding to just over 10% during the 1982 recession. The prime lending rate of the Federal Reserve was at an astonishing rate of 21.5% in June 1982.

Reagan was known for cutting taxes, increasing defense spending and de-regulating the economy. The real benefit of his economic program was not realized until after he left office. The administrations of George H.W. Bush and Bill Clinton benefited from the Reagan policies as the economy boomed, unemployment spiraled downward, inflation was minimized and interest rates tumbled. Enter 9/11 and the war on terror and a George W. Bush administration that was bent on the politically correct "compassionate conservatism" and after eight years, the economy has tanked, and the nation has abandoned the free market principles of success, adopting instead socialism.

Under the current Administration, the deficit will ascend to $1.72 TRILLION - more than 10 times the one for which Reagan was so severely criticized. Unemployment is climbing toward 8%. The mortgage, banking and auto industries are being taken over by the government and committees of the government. Debt is king. America owes China upwards of $2 Trillion. And because of our government's budgeting, every American owes the government about $10,000. Reagan was hammered by the news media for Carter's deficits. The free press these days seems to want to embrace them. One thing for sure, you can't spend your way to prosperity.

Romans 13:8 says,
"Owe no man any thing, but to love one another."
Good advice.

The Blind Faith Dichotomy

By Jack Kinsella

I recently stumbled--quite by accident--across a video of a debate between noted atheist author Christopher Hitchens and Frank Turek. I don't usually watch these debates because atheists tend to get so nasty and hateful when debating Christians.
But because Hitchens is so high-profile and I'd seen him so many times giving interviews, I assumed this would be more civil than most.

And the debate probably would have been more civil than it was had Turek not been so effective in his opening remarks. Since Hitchens wasn't left with much he could refute, the best he could do in response was mock the points raised by Turek. Not very convincing.

I posted the debate in full at my blog, "What's This World Coming To?" if you have an hour and a half to spend watching it.

I promise it is time well spent, but in case you don't have the time to watch, allow me to plagiarize some of Dr. Turek's main points for you here.

In the first place, Turek cheerfully admits that he believes in the "Big Bang" explanation for the origin of the universe.

The reason? Because atheists also believe in the Big Bang. Which means they also have to believe that the universe began from a point of literal, non-physical nothingness.

Before that, there was no time, no space, and no matter and then it all banged into existence out of nothing with great precision.

That admission creates a major problem for the atheist worldview. Why couldn't natural forces be responsible for the creation of the universe? Because until the universe came into being, there was no nature.

Think about this for a second. It means the cause of the universe must be something beyond nature—something we would call supernatural. It also means that the supernatural cause of the universe must at least be:

1) spaceless, because it created space; 2) timeless, because it created time; 3) immaterial, because it created matter; 4) powerful, because it created out of nothing; 5) intelligent, because the creation event and the universe was precisely designed; and, 6) personal, because it made a choice to convert a state of nothing into something.

Hitchens' response was considerably less than inspiring. He said the argument was 'speculative' -- since nobody could be there before the beginning.

THIS is where atheism proves itself to be a religion. It operates on blind faith. Hitchen's admission that the universe HAS a beginning demands an explanation for what came before. Nothing can erupt from nothing.

Hitchens couldn't refute the obvious fact that there had to be something BEFORE the Big Bang. Before there was space. Before there was time. Before there was matter.

Hitchens admits the evidence, but then mocks where it leads because it would contradict his own blind religious faith. It isn't speculative to say that since all time, space and matter had a beginning, it must also have had a Beginner.

Since space, time and matter were created via the Big Bang, then it logically follows that the Cause of the Big Bang must be spaceless, timeless and immaterial.

To support his argument, Turek quotes Dr. Robert Jastrow, the director of the Mount Wilson Observatory until his death.
“There is a kind of religion in science . . . every effect must have its cause; there is no First Cause. . . . This religious faith of the scientist is violated by the discovery that the world had a beginning under conditions in which the known laws of physics are not valid, and as a product of forces or circumstances we cannot discover. When that happens, the scientist has lost control. If he really examined the implications, he would be traumatized. As usual when faced with trauma, the mind reacts by ignoring the implications—in science this is known as “refusing to speculate.”
In any other category except atheism, it would be known as "blind faith." Atheists call it 'rational thought'.

I once saw a tombstone epitaph that read like this:
"Here lies an Atheist. All dressed up with no place to go."
I've always had a major problem understanding both the logic and the appeal of atheism. It exists to no good purpose. It offers nothing. It has no answers -- what answers it does provide come in the form of new questions.

Watch how many times Hitchens dodges answering a direct question in the debate by asking what seemed rather desperate questions in return.

In the first place, atheism cannot reasonably exist. For a person to KNOW there is no God, that person must know all that there is to know--making the atheist a god himself.

For a worldview that claims it is rooted in reason, it is the most unreasonable of all belief structures. It offers NO explanation for the origin or cause of the universe or the scientific laws that uphold it. By definition, atheism MUST deny the Big Bang because by definition, the Big Bang demands a Big Banger. But without the Big Bang, the atheist is totally without any explanation for the existence of the universe.

So instead, the atheist argues the universe simply popped into existence--a magic trick without a magician, or a miracle without a Miracle-worker. And this is what the atheist defines as a 'reasoned' approach to the question.

An atheist argues that faith in God requires a suspension of judgment and intellect--the "check your brains at the church door" argument. Faith must have substance to believe on, without substance it is wishful thinking. But any substance the atheist's argument might possibly have evaporates when he gets around to explaining the Big Bang. Given what is at stake, one would think that an atheist would satisfy himself as to the answers to certain reasonable and rational questions first.

Like, if the universe had a beginning, Who or what began it? No answer.

Where did the laws of physics come from? No answer.

How does one explain the design apart from a Designer? No answer. If one is an atheist none are needed.

The answer to all these questions is the same. There is no God because I don't believe there is a God and no amount of evidence can change my mind. Because I'm a rational thinker.

The Economic Crisis in Europe

By Chuck Missler

After the Berlin Wall fell, the nations of Eastern Europe jumped on the new train of capitalism. They borrowed and built, borrowed and built, and now – just like many Americans – they find they can't always pay their mortgages. The struggle of Eastern Europe can be felt across the great financial spider webs, not just of Europe, but of the world.
"There's a domino effect," said Kenneth S. Rogoff, a professor at Harvard and former chief economist of the International Monetary Fund. "International credit markets are linked, and so a snowballing credit crisis in Eastern Europe and the Baltic countries could cause New York municipal bonds to fall."

The currencies of Hungary, Poland, and the Czech Republic have all fallen against the Euro. Therefore, when these countries try to pay what they owe to Western European banks, their money means less, and their loans are therefore harder to repay. The banks of Western Europe are already in a pinch, holding back on lending as they face their own corner of the recession. US banks are not in a good position to lend money to European banks, and capital is therefore drying up. Less capital. Fewer loans. Less growth. Less revenue. Fewer jobs. The cycle spirals downward.

The jobless rates have risen across Europe. In Poland, the jobless rate was up to 10.5 percent in January. With their currencies declining and facing mounting debt, Eastern European countries have had to cut back on basic services. On Friday, Latvia's coalition government collapsed and Prime Minister Ivars Godmanis was forced to resign. Latvia follows Iceland, whose Prime Minister Geir Haardewas resigned on January 26th after months of protests and unrest.

The economic trials have moved several countries to press forward toward greater EU involvement. The IMF has had to step in to give billions of dollars in aid to the countries of Iceland and Latvia, Hungary and Ukraine in the interest of protecting the whole continent.

Hungary's Prime Minister Ferenc Gyurcsany asked Brussels to speed up the process for bringing Eastern Europe into euro membership. Iceland's interim government led by Johanna Sigurdardottir is now considering applying for EU membership.

The people of Europe have not sat down during the crisis. In the Ukraine capital of Kiev, people rushed to take their money out of the banks. In Russia, thousands gathered to demand the government resign in the face of the crisis. In Dublin, more than 100,000 protesters surrounded the Irish parliament on Saturday to criticize bailout money for bankers while public sector workers were expected to take pay cuts.

Europe is being stretched, and during the middle of winter – which is not something to sniff at when you realize that Poland, Iceland, and Latvia all lie on parallels north of the Canadian border. Unemployment is rising and these countries continue to slide into economic quicksand. Will Europe be able to pull out? Certainly.

Recessions have come and gone a multitude of times through the centuries. The question is not whether Europe will survive the crisis, but how. When individual countries are strong and prospering, they enjoy their independence. It appears that these difficult times are drawing the nations of Europe together more tightly than they ever have been. How that will play out in the political future remains to be seen.

Traditional Marriage Disapproved

By Dave Hunt

Nigeria favors traditional marriage, loses funding [Excerpts]

A division of the European Union that deals with "gay" rights has demanded that all foreign aid to Nigeria be suspended after the government voted not to recognize homosexual "marriage."

The Nigerian vote to protect traditional marriage was unanimous. Matt Barber of Liberty Counsel says it is unfortunate the European Union adopted its stance.

"The European Union has certainly been infiltrated by homo-fascists. There's just no doubt about it," he contends. "They are using that body to essentially try to push the international homosexual agenda down the throats of countries that respect traditional values relative to sexual morality."

"We have the Defense of Marriage Act on the books [in the United States]; why aren't they coming after the U.S.? Well, because what bullies do is they pick on someone that is weaker than they are," he notes. "So the European Union is trying to make an example out of Nigeria because they are in a position of influence and power, yet they will not pick the same fight with the United States because they know it would be to no avail."
It is against the religious beliefs of Christians and Muslims in Nigeria to commit homosexual acts.

The Truth About Islam: Culture

By Dr. David R. Reagan

Islam is a cultural religion that deifies 7th Century Arabian culture.1

Westerners tend to view religion as something intensely personal and private, and not as a cultural phenomenon. For example, Christianity is "supra-cultural" in that it allows people to live, dress and eat in accordance with the culture in which they exist. This is not so with Islam. In Islam there is no "secular realm" that is free of religion. Islam regulates every aspect of life to the point that religion, politics, and culture are inseparable. Islam is thus fueled by a subtle form of racism in which 7th Century Arab culture is to be imposed upon all other cultures.

Here are some examples of the cultural nature of Islam:

Political Structure — The tribalism of 7th Century Arabia is the political structure sanctioned by the Koran. The chief has absolute authority. There is no concept of civil rights. This principle is reflected today in the reality that all Islamic countries are ruled by dictators, and civil liberties, like freedom of speech and religion, do not exist.

Prayer — A Muslim is required to pray five times a day toward Mecca. This is a symbol of the underlying cultural imperialism that lies at the heart of Islam. Think of it — what if all Russian Orthodox throughout the world were required to pray toward Moscow? Or, if all Roman Catholics were required to face Rome when they prayed? What if Evangelical Christians were required to pray toward Jerusalem? Such requirements would imply a cultural attachment to the focal point of prayer.

Pilgrimage — A Muslim is required, despite the hardship and cost, to make a pilgrimage to Mecca in Saudi Arabia once in his lifetime. Again, what if all Christians were required to go to Rome once in their lifetimes?

Dietary Laws — The only foods allowable are those that were acceptable in 7th Century Arabia.

Women — What an illiterate, nomadic tribeswoman wore in the desert in 7th Century Arabia is what is mandated for Muslim women today. The plight of women in Islamic countries today is despicable. They can be kept prisoners in their homes. They cannot appear in public without a covering. They are usually denied the right to vote. They are often denied anything more than a rudimentary education. In strict Islamic countries, women are generally treated as sub-human.2 Sura 4:34 says, "Men are the managers of the affairs of women... Those women who are rebellious — admonish them, banish them to their couches, and beat them."

Punishment — Cruel and unusual punishment is practiced throughout the Islamic world. Incarceration without due process is common. Punishments often include torture, the cutting off of body parts (hands, ears and tongues), the gouging out of eyes, beheading, and public flogging — all representative of 7th Century Arabian culture. The Koran specifically commands that those who disobey Allah are to be tortured (Sura 8:12-14).

Time magazine recently presented a chilling summary of the cultural nature of Islam as it is evidenced in the "moderate" Islamic nation of Saudi Arabia:3

"Despite the modernization that took place after the discovery of oil reserves in 1938, Saudi Arabia remains a land where rigid religious and traditional values are strictly enforced. Cinemas and discos are outlawed; men and women are separated in banks, schools, and fast-food restaurants; women must wear veils and are forbidden to drive. Public decency police known as muttawa comb shopping malls searching for women whose loose scarves reveal a curl of hair and forcing store owners to shut during prayer times. Unforgiving Saudi justice is on view after the main prayer every Friday, when a swordsman beheads blindfolded murderers, sorcerers, drug smugglers, and other criminals in Riyadh's 'Chop-chop Square.'"

The Coming One World Religion - Part 1

Jim SimmonsBy Jim Simmons
Focal Point Publications

A one-world religion is developing rapidly, and it will be an all-encompassing religion. Satan will energize this one-world religion and work through the lawless one, better known as the Antichrist. He has two purposes:

1. To play the role of God and have people worship him. He will sit “in the temple of God displaying himself as being God” (2 Thessalonians 2:4).

2. To kill the true Christians and Jews. “… and cause as many as do not worship the image of the beast to be killed” (Revelation 13:15).

My last article, posted on 1-31-09, was titled The Last Generation. The purpose of that article was to illustrate the acceleration of world developments during the last generation beginning with the birth of Israel in 1948. That article helps set the stage for this article.

The Last Generation briefly covered all three pillars of a united world system that will need to be in place by or immediately following the beginning of the seven-year tribulation period. The three pillars are:

  • One World Government
  • One World Economy
  • One World Religion
The pillar of the One World Government was given the most attention in the first article.

The focus of this article is to expand on the pillar of the coming One World Religion. I personally believe that the pillar of a global religion is the foundation for both of the other two pillars—government and economy. What a group of people believe will determine their actions, such as economic and political decisions. The world economic system gives the fuel needed to activate a complete world governmental control. This could be illustrated by the following diagram:

Belief System [One World Religion] + Money [One World Economy] = Political Decisions [One World Government].

It has been said that politics and religion don’t mix. They don’t in the long run. But during most of the seven-year tribulation period, politics and religion will go hand in hand. One current example of mixing religion and politics is the government of Iran. It is primarily run by the religious clerics.

During the great tribulation (the last 3.5 years of the 7 year tribulation period) this buddy system of Antichrist (Political Ruler) and False Prophet (Ruler of World Religion) will break down. The One World Government, led by the Antichrist, will destroy the One World Religion, led by the False Prophet. The “beast” destroys the “harlot” (see Revelation 17:16-17).

This article was taken mainly from my recent book titled, The Last Generation: Prophecy, Current World Events, and the End Times. Ordering information for this book will be given at the conclusion of the article.

Today, in this generation, we have seen the foundation being laid for a one-world religion. This world religion is symbolized in Scripture by “… the great harlot who sits on many waters” (Revelation 17:1) and by the “… woman sitting on a scarlet beast, full of blasphemous names …” (Revelation 17:3).

Hallmarks of a False Religious System

In order to determine the validity of a religious belief system, it will prove helpful to look at some of the hallmarks of a false religious system.

The hallmarks of a false religious system include, but are not limited to, the following four characteristics:

1. Compromise of Doctrine: One of the key phrases used in the European Union, as well as in the United States, is “Unity in Diversity.” This sounds good on the surface. It means we are a unified but diverse group of people—all of the hallmarks of tolerance. This kind of unity in a world religion necessitates a compromise of doctrine.

This great tolerance is promoted in almost every area. The major exceptions are biblical Christianity and Judaism. The world religion will be tolerant of everything but the TRUTH.

2. Experience Based: “Teacher, we want to see a sign from You” (Matthew 12:38). There is an escalating trend worldwide toward an experience-based religion and an experienced-based Christianity. More people are traveling to many places where they say God is manifesting Himself through signs and wonders. These manifestations are, in many cases, apparitions of Mary, the mother of Jesus, or of angels, but rarely of Jesus. It is important for us to remind ourselves that biblically based Christianity is always founded on a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

Paul warned the Galatians not to be fooled by people distorting the gospel of Jesus Christ. He states:

“But even if we, or an angel from heaven, should preach to you a gospel contrary to what we have preached to you, he is to be accursed” (Galatians 1:8).
In many cases, there are reported apparitions of Mary witnessed by Christians, unbelievers, and Muslims. The messages are oftentimes contrary to God’s Word. One of the tests of the validity of a reported vision and the credibility of the messenger (in recent years these visions are usually apparitions of Mary) involves:
  • The content of the message given. If the message contradicts God’s Word, the Bible, the message is not valid.
  • The credibility of the messenger. If the message is not valid, this takes away from the credibility of the messenger. It is important to remember that “… Satan disguises himself as an angel of light” (2 Corinthians 11:14).
3. Provides a Broad Road to Salvation: One rapidly growing belief system is that of universalism, which is another lie. It promotes the belief that there are many paths to God. While this may be a “politically correct” theology in our day, it is the neo-paganism of the New Age. This belief is addressed by Jesus when He said,
“… I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but through Me” (John 14:6).
This “all roads lead to Rome” belief is very common today. It runs against the grain of unbelievers and, in many cases, Christians don’t believe or want to believe what Jesus said (there is only one way). It is probably not the best way to begin sharing the gospel with an unbeliever unless you really believe that God is leading you in that direction.

4. Counterfeit Miracles: Miracles are powerful! A miracle will convince an individual of the validity of a particular belief system faster than anything else. Consider the False Prophet found in the Book of Revelation (16:13; 20:10). He is the Antichrist’s right hand man. He is symbolized as the second “beast” (Revelation 13:11-12). The first “beast” is the Antichrist (described in Revelation 16:1-10). The False Prophet “… performs great signs [miracles] … he deceives those who dwell on the earth because of the signs …” (Revelation 13:13-14) [brackets added].

Satan has the ability to perform miracles, but his tendency is to counterfeit God’s miracles. One example of Satan counterfeiting miracles can be found in Exodus, Chapter Seven. Moses and Aaron confront Pharaoh to let the Israelites go. Through God’s power Moses and Aaron perform miracles, i.e., Aaron’s staff turns into a serpent. The magicians of Egypt “did the same with their secret arts” (Exodus 7:11). The Lord tells Moses to direct Aaron to stretch out his staff, and he turns the rivers, streams, and pools into blood. The False Prophet “performs great signs, so that he even makes fire come down out of heaven to the earth in the presence of men” (Revelation 13:13).

Over the last ten to fifteen years, there has been a greater orientation toward the supernatural. This can be good in some cases. Unfortunately, it also opens the door to Satan to perform visions and apparitions that appear to come from God. The Marian apparitions are appearing worldwide and the message is peace, unity, and tolerance. The impact of these apparitions has been so powerful that they have cut across religious denominations worldwide, INCLUDING ISLAM.

Points 2 and 4 above are both experientially based. In essence, both points say that a person’s experience dictates their theology. This is putting the cart before the horse, so to speak. A person’s theology should be the criteria for evaluating their experience. When this is reversed, every imaginable heresy will be the outcome. We are living in an experience-based society. This society determines their beliefs based on their experience. This has been a characteristic of this last generation.

The Muslim Connection: The Missing Link

One of the common questions concerning a one-world religion is this: “If the coming one-world false religion is characterized by tolerance and diversity (exceptions: Christians and Jews) how will the Muslims integrate into this system?” [I realize that I briefly covered this in my first article on January 31. My purpose in this article is to go a little deeper into this topic.]

The answer: There needs to be a common denominator between Muslims and the one-world religion. This common denominator may very well be Mary, the mother of Jesus. The Koran exalts Mary, not Jesus. The Roman Catholics also exalts Mary. This along with the numerous alleged apparitions of Mary witnessed by both Muslims and Catholics creates a link between the two religions. These two religions together take in a sizeable portion of the human race.

The Marian apparitions, including the ones in Egypt and Africa, have an underlying message. According to Mary, this message is, “All religions are the same. We are the ones causing division.” This message is easily identified under the third hallmark of a false religion, namely, “Provides a Broad Road to Salvation.” Mary’s message is proven invalid because it contradicts Scripture. The only way to God is through Jesus (John 14:6). Since it is clearly demonstrated to be a false message, we can conclude that Mary, the mother of Jesus, was not the one delivering the message. Mary would never contradict her Son.

According to a British-Catholic magazine, “A Marian revival is spreading throughout Africa with alleged apparitions of Mary, finding a following among the Muslims.” Although African Muslims are supposedly seeing apparitions of the Virgin Mary, they “are not required to become Christians to follow her.”

Most of the spectators who witnessed the Marian apparitions in Zeitoun, Egypt, were Muslim. This apparition of Mary appeared for several nights each week for years and was viewed by millions of Muslims.

Mary appears to be the missing link that helps answer the previous question about how the Muslims could ever integrate into a one-world religion.

The Mary/Fatima Connection

Bishop Fulton Sheen, back in the 1950s, was the first Catholic on television [with his own religious talk show]. He wrote a book predicting that Islam would be converted to Christianity. In the same era, the 1950s, Bishop Sheen also wrote a book titled The World’s First Love. He stated in his book:
“But after the death of Fatima (Muhammad’s daughter), Muhammad wrote,
‘Thou shall be the most blessed of all women in paradise after Mary.’”
This connection with the Muslims through Mary was predicted about fifty years ago. Bishop Sheen was ahead of his time, at least as it relates to the future of Islam. The Muslims will be included in the coming One World Religion, but it will not be Christianity.

Key Players and Locations: Mary/Fatima Scenario

The key players are: Mary, the mother of Jesus; Fatima, the daughter of Muhammad; and Pope John Paul II. The key locations include Fatima, Portugal, and St. Peter’s Square, Rome.

The Portuguese Village of Fatima is named after Muhammad’s daughter. Bishop Sheen mentioned how remarkable it was that our Lady had the foresight to appear in the Portuguese Village of Fatima, named after Muhammad’s daughter, and thus became known as Our Lady of Fatima.

In October of 2000, Pope John Paul II ordered the actual statue of Our Lady of Fatima to be moved from Fatima, Portugal, to St. Peter’s Square in Rome. His purpose was to signify “his great devotion to Mary.” He credits her with saving his life in an assassination attempt on May 13, 1981. This story is recounted in chapter six of The Last Generation: Prophecy, Current World Events, and the End Times.

Also in the year 2000, Pope John Paul II gathered 1,500 bishops from around the world, the largest group to assemble since Vatican II. They were there to entrust the world and the millennium to “Our Lady of Fatima,” not to Jesus, not even to God, but to Mary.

What Are Some of the Implications?

1. There appears to be a clear connection between the Catholic Church and the Muslim faith.

2. The Doctrine of Compromise is apparent. Examples: Pope John Paul took a compromising approach to other religions, which included Shamans, witch doctors, Hindu gurus, and voodoo. This sounds very familiar to the Catholic evangelists in the early days of Christianity.

3. The Broad Road to Salvation is emphasized. Examples: The underlying message, according to Mary, i.e., through the alleged Marian apparitions, is “all religions are the same.”

4. Counterfeit Miracles, i.e., Marian apparitions are rampant. These so-called miraculous apparitions of Mary, the mother of Jesus, fail the validity test. If the visions are not really Mary, we can conclude that Satan is disguising himself as an angel of light. He has an agenda, which includes leading humanity into a One World False Religion of his making where he will be worshipped.

5. Experience-based Miracles and apparitions seem to be the motivating factor and key decision-making factor for most people.
